Valverde, 27, has only started the Tour twice and never made it to Paris.

He was 25th overall, one minute and three seconds behind leader Fabian Cancellara, after Friday's sixth stage.

In 2005, the Spaniard remarkably beat seven-times champion Lance Armstrong on a stage in Courchevel before pulling out with a knee injury. Last year, a crash in the third stage to Valkenburg ruled him out of contention early in the race.

"The top contenders have to be versatile and must have some experience," Unzue told reporters. "Alejandro's rivals are already very experienced."

"He is one of the riders who can win and make the show. But he would first like to make it to Paris to test his credentials, Unzue added.

"Of course, there is a little apprehension after two successive retirements."

Valverde will first have to deal with the huge pressure that has been on his shoulders since he beat American Armstrong.

"It was the last time Armstrong had been really beaten," Unzue recalled.

"It has left a mark in his career. There is so much hope placed on him and he is very sad people only remember that victory."

Unzue added the first day in the Alps, a 197.5-km trek from Bourg-en-Bresse to Le Grand Bornand on Saturday, would be important for Valverde's future in this year's race.

"If he is okay in this stage, it will boost his confidence and he will probably perform very well afterwards," he said.

A father and his son was walking in the forest one day , and the son asked the dad what that was and he pointed. The father replied "they are Black Berries my son". The son asked: " But why are they red?". The father replied:"Because they ere still green my son".

So Red Balck Berries are Green.

Whatch out for Valverde.
