The cyclist/motor cyclist accident happened in the Elite/u23 bunch. The cyclist is at home with a neck brace as a precautionary for whiplash.

HI Gary Francois here, is it one of your riders that got injured?

so what is the latest news on the condition of the cyclist AND the biker??? HUGE kudo's to the other biker who put himself and his bike at huge risk by riding through the grass.

Cyclist seems fine, broken helmet, torn shirt, bruised ego.

Apparently the one motorcyclist was knocked unconscious. His helmet hit the cyclist on the shoulder.

What irritates me about this, is the cyclists in general saying 'how else should we stay in the bunch if they gutter?

WHERE WAS THE COMM? How many warnings did he issue, how many riders were DQ'd for crossing the white line? Did he bother to neutralize the race and tell the lic group to get their act together? Personally I think CSA officials are at a race to consume all the free coffee and muffins. If they're not doing their job at a race, perhaps payment for services rendered should be withheld.

Well said. when i was still with TB and marshalling i more than once asked comms to take action for DANGEROUS breach of rules (once when i had to go "bundu bashing" with my SV) and nothing was done.

knowing the impact of a bird flying into the side of my bike and having seen first hand what a bird can do to a helmet and a bike (OuchDead) i hope the biker is ok as taking and impact to the helmet to the weight of a human is potentially a very serious situation. hopefully the comm concerned WILL (for a change) have relevant action taken against him.

the onus does, however, remain with the cyclists to ride in accordance with the rules of the race. i hope the cyclist concerned realises that he is legally liable for the injuries and damages sustained by the bikers (the one who bundu-bashed may well have incurred damages to his/her bike). i hope he has decent liability insurance.

Hope the biker takes it further.  Or even better, the biker's medical aid and short term insurance get involved.

For the cyclist admitting to riding on the right, I agree, you are an idiot.  Due to your actions there is another victim out there with a story to tell about how idiotic cyclists are.  Rather find another sport, it would be safer for all of us.

Interesting to see how public liability will see this... where was referee, why were cyclist on wrong side of road. Could have far reaching effects!
