Considering Sram has revamped their entire range this is a bit of a wet fart' date=' the main difference is another shifter, chainrings and cassette, nothing else has really changed noticably...I'm talking about cosmetics here...[/quote']

They say if it is not broken.... DO NOT FIX IT..... has any of the two companies fixed anything exept create a new market for fashion concious individuals who need to have the best and the most expensive to show of their prowess??????

IMO there's no need for 10 speed but becasuse Sram made it, Shimano has to follow. I think that for most people a triple crank makes sense because you have the extra gears if you need them even though it might not be very often  and the weight penalty is small.

In terms of the new 2 X 10 setups, the small ring goes as low as a 26 and with the new 10 speed casettes the largest cog can be a 26 so it is possible to still get the same ratio as you would've with a triple crank.

Also the 2011 XTR will be 2 X 10 for those who haven't seen it yet so i'm sure that within a year XT and SLX will also have these options.
