If it was a vein then it wouldnt have squirted, and by the look of your 'paint' job there was a decent amount of quirting going on! There is basically no fat in that region anyway, so unless you are very strange and have superficial arteries, that stone went DEEP!

speedy recovery bud but i have to admit - its rather freakish how it happened, quite strange & bizzarre

 

I also believe blood is rather corrosive so id get that blood washed off asap before some parts start taking a knock there
