indoor trainer

Guys I borrowed an indoor trainer from a friend to try out(RavX).It just about shredded my rear tyre in the space of 5 minutes trying it out!! Have I set it up wrong?Doesn't look like there is much one can do wrong. It is my road bike I was using. Any help please. Cry

Indoor trainers do tend to eat normal tyres. Most guys use a training tyre which is a hrder compund, and is usually orange in colour to differentiate.

Indoor trainers chow standard road tyres ... not within 5 mins though so I suspect that your tyre may well have been on its way out anyway.

If you are going to be spending time on the trainer invest in a dedicated trainer tyre - I see that they come in different colour options nowadays rather than the original yellow/orange.

And that means extra wheel AND cassette! That spinning bike in the gym is sounding much cheaper for winter!Shocked
