Trelawney Posted August 4, 2010 Share Trilawney, you are not serious! The 'timing chip' that you are referring to is actually called a number board. If you are going to keep on doing the shorter routes, you would not need a timing chip, so stick to your number board for now! I am both serious & confused ! The number boards I have used have an RF ID Tag in that gets read wirelessly and on events I've done (usually the 70 km marathon) that's all I've ever seen. My question is therefore ... what's the difference between the RF ID Tag system and these chips ? Technology wise, types of events etc ? Thanks. Guest agteros Posted August 5, 2010 Share What local MTB races (Except the 94.7 MTB event) uses a timing chip, and not a number board? ON the road bike, I've been mounting the chip on the front QR with no hassles till now. Even bunny hopped some white lines a bit in the last 94.
