Depends where you ride in Tokai.

It's maybe not as technical as Tokai's best (ie. riding up the Tokai switchbacks, or Cobra), but there are some long/fast (singletrack) downhills that Tokai doesnt have, and some sudden blind corners (into uphills), that'll get you if you don't know they're there.

Overall, if you enjoy Tokai's singletrack, you'll enjoy this.

Thx Ninja. I love Tokai and have done a load of the ST there. I just wanted to make sure there was no serious DH type stuff at Welvanpas :o

No, nothing like that.

Now if my memory serves me correctly, you have about 3 or 4 tricky uphills after corners/ditches (at 0.5, 2 and 2.5 km etc), then the steepest downhill is at 6km, there are a couple of sneaky switchbacks on the descent starting at 8km, and then lots of fast downhill after 16km mark...

Nothing too dropoffy or very loose either, trail is definately XC orientated.

Take the first lap sloooooow, Take the second lap flat out :-)

Welvanpas rocks!

Some steep bits, some switchbacks but all on a superb trail surface. Riding the trail for the first time it's probably safer to go a little slower....

If you don't arrive back at your car grinning from ear to ear then go ride the Yellow route too (bit of a climb to start off)

You'll have to look far and wide to find such long, long stretches of flowing singletrack.

I can't wait to go back there....
