Educate me, do you get more than one type/shape of drop out?

I replaced my RD from Deore to XT but seem to have some issue getting the adjustment spot on...

A dropout is specifically made to fit into and bolt onto a receptacle in the frame. There are a multitude of different shapes and sizes ut all have one thing in common, the hole where the derraileur bolts on to. Dropouts are made to ebnd when the frame is bumped there. If not you would have to replace your frame.

See the dropout as an extension of your frame and if the dropout is bent it may cause gearchange problems. A different shape will not change anything.

Wishful thinking on my part... My frame don't have no hangar - RD bolted straight onto the frame...

Gives me some heeby-jeebys everytime I go riding...

Wait a mo - should I consider playing around with random hanagrs to see if I can make a plan with a few extra QR's in my chain?

Anyone?

Apologies for that, _freak_ as you might note from the above, cannot really offer you any firm advice!

Good luck though - I'm pretty sure that if you don't get your answer here, that it's because there 'aint one! B)

SOmething else is wrong them.

At RodTi, rather get a hanger. If you have a bad fall on the derailleur, the hanger is suppose to break off, but without one, you'll lose the derailleur

If you did not get the shadow version, you WILL want to.

Check if pulleys and cages are running parralel to the wheel in all gears. If not, then the hanger is bent, depending on how badly it is bent, you might need to replace it.

Did you just change for the sake of up-grade,or did you break the old one?

Might also be cable ferrules setting if you replaced the gear cables and housings with the upgrade

Take the RD back and let them give you another one it could be the RD, I had the same problem on my road bike, I had it set, replaced hanger, etc. no joy, replaced RD never had a problem again.
