Hi All

I'm new here and new to buying a MTB.

Choices are the 2010 Silverback Nebraska or the new 2011 Merida Matts 300 - both hardtail.

Please help.

Many thanks.

Bought my girl the nabraska, and if I remember spec wise its leaps and bounds better than the merida 300. Though they dropped the price of the nabraska to about 8k now, the ventura is not much more expensive, R200 if I remember correctly and they have now changed the alu on the frame so it should be a bloody nice bike.

The Nebraska is now going for between 6k - 6.5k on special - I think they trying to get rid of old stock.

So for someone like myself that is just wanting to start riding and really only looking for a bike to some trails and weekend, should it be fine?

Nice thing also is that it seems to come with the clip pedals also as standard.

Dude at that price buy two :) and its an awesome machine, dont let the bike snobs tell you any different. And the pedals are the least of your worries :) the tora air shocks are actually damn good, the SLX groupset is nice, XT derailure for brilliant shifts. Rigid frame quite responsive.

Just get a different rear tyre the WTB's are nice in front but too grippy in the back, replace them with maxxis crossmarks.

Thats about all you would ever want to change till you go tubeless.
