Last week Thursday I had to get out of the office and decided to go to Solomons in Woodmead just to see what's left on sale. I did manage to pick up the Pedro's Road Rage lube for R20 which works pretty well BUT I also bought the "The Definitive guide to bicycle maintenance" for R30. Oh my word is it badly produced. Alot of the jobs they just say "take it to your local bicycle shop". For instance, to look after your fork all they tell you is to keep it clean and put some oil on the stanctions. On the brake part they tell you not to squeeze the levers when the wheel is not fitted. I feel sorry for people that actually payed R100+ for this thing.

Pretty good advice for disk brakes ...... if they were talking about disk brakes.

Probabaly the sort of book the guys who can't fix a puncture require!!

It's actually a DVD.

On the part where they show you how to adjust you headset, stem and bars, they use some fancy ITM stem with hidden bolts. why not use a stock stem. Oh, do you know how to see if your headset is loose? You lift the front of the bike and drop it on the floor. If it rattles, then your headset is loose. then they show you how to do the method where you lock the front brake and rock the bike back and forth.

And according to them, it is 100% okay to re-use a chain pin after you've removed it.
