Hi,

I recently got myself a set of 50mm carbon clinchers.

I found out to my dismay that normal brake pads dont work on carbon wheels.

I have a set of brake pads for the wheels that I got with the purchase.

Is the a way to alternate between the two brake pad types with having to remove the pad from it housing and slot the other in everytime that I change the wheels.

Buying a second bike is unforunately not an option, PLEASE HELP WITH ADVICE!

Thanks

You do get special pads that compatible with carbon and alu rims. I think Swisstop makes it. Almost the same price as a new bike. Just keep them clean as the shaving from the alu rim can damage the carbon rim.

Get Koolstop Salmon brake pads. These are compatible with both rims and the bonus is that it doesn't pick up alu shavings like Shimano and other brake pads do. Like Mampara says, these shavings will damage your carbon rim.

Koolstop is difficult to find, order online from www.harriscyclery.com. You won't look back.

However, braking with carbon rims is never satisfactory, no matter what the pads.
