Remote Lock-out - can it be added later?

Why google, if you Hubbers are funnier?

 

Can one add a remote lock-out to a 2008 F80 RLC Fox Fork, after purchase?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can buy a seperate unit for certain Roxshock's -- but was wondering about the Fox?

 

Any thoughts?

Had a similar question about installing a remote lockout on the rear shock, because I can understand the energy lost while climbing and you are bobbing around, but

 

when do you lock out a front shock - I have never actually seen the need to do this (ok I am used to stiff roadie forks so anything that absorbs a bit of shock is heaven and I dont want to switch it off!)

I'd start with asking Johan Bornman (Yellow Saddle) - he both re-builds, and runs courses in Fork and (I think) shock re-building, so will probably know the architecture of the RP2 and also, probably, the 'available parts'.

Tankman - each to their own, I guess?? As for me - my fork is almost always locked out, since I've set it up in such a manner that it still reacts to everything but the gnarly stuff...

 

Which means that when I need to unlock it - it's usually as I've started a hairy descent, and I only remember to do it when I've already begun the run ...

I've had a few close shaves, purely because I'm leaning forward, around the bars, trying to dial my lock-out open, without actually concentrating on the pure evil that is rapidly unfolding under my front wheel

 

Having said all of this, it doesn't happen nearly enough to justify the expense (presumably?) of installing a remote lock-out - and the weird part of me, enjoys those moments of fear! So I guess I'm just asking really, without necessarily thinking of doing it

Rod AFAIK kits are available, but they are not normally as simple as remote lever, but also internals that have to be installed. As far as the rear shock goes I remember someone posting comments about Fox launching a full lock out retro fit kit for Rp23's at Interbike a few weeks ago, for those riders who feel the Pro Pedal lever does not make it stiff enough.
