I must choose between these two bikes and can’t find much difference! Both are equal priced at my local shop. . .

The weight is equal otherwise small differences. I ride both road bike and mountain bike, this is my first decent Mtb!

I will compete in events on the PPA calendar and consider myself very competitive. Please help!

Hard to say

Scale 70 has bigger front disc

Aspect 10 has better rear deraileur

I am still new to MTB but struggling to spot any other differences

Looks like Aspect 10 has remote lockout. Don't know if it counts for much, I have ridden 600km on the road with my bike and never used the lockout

I see they call the Scale a mountain bike and the Aspect a trail bike. Maybe one of the other hubbers can tell us what the difference is between mountain and trail...

Thanks, the bikes are so similar dont even think i will notice the diference anyway! Think i will choose the one with the best colour schemes!

The Aspect is a trail bike and the Scale a racing bike. Built with a different purpose in mind and thus the geometry will differ. On the trail bike your position will be more upright and "comfortable", while the racing bike is designed for you to take in a more aerodynamic position, i.e. a lower back position relative to your handle bars.

This is if you do a proper set up, not sure how close you can get the geometry of a trail bike to that of a racing bike and vice versa by tweaking your set up.

I am suprised that the racing one doesn't have flat bars, when I was trying to spot the differences I thought that would have been one of them
