If you're right hand dominant it only makes sense to have the front brake (main/most powerful/important) on the right as you should have more power in that hand and thus be able to brake better

 

That is the reason I have front on the left. If I grab a right hand full of brake I lock the wheel, if I do the same with the left it is not as bad.
