First MTB Race (Roadie)

I am a roadie and love it!!

 

But after all my friends bought MTB's I decided to buy one as well....just to join them.

 

Got a great deal and bought a Giant Anthem 2011.

 

Did the Jacaranda Satl Classic on Saturday, and then the Leewenkloof MTB Classic (old Telkom Satl MTB) on Sunday.

 

Race was 52km, and I nearly died, did finish and absolutely loved it.

I was also a hardcore roadie. When I decided to try MTB I thought is was for softies.I mean you are out in the veld checking out nature, it isnt fast like road racing, it can only be a pleasure. I had two non negotiable rules when I was a roadie. 1) I will never push my bike 2) No chick will ever beat me on a bike.

Rode my first MTB race, expected a lekker easy 80km off road ride, maybe whip some serious mountie butt.

To cut a long story short, I pushed my bike that day, plenty of chicks beat me that day and I withdrew every bad word I ever said about mounties.MTB is hard, real hard!

Today I live for MTB.

Oh ja and before I forget, MTB makes you very strong for road bike. So when you decide now and then to ride a road race you are very tough.
