Hey all

I remember a thread a while back where someone mounted thule pro rides to the corsa utility bin.

I'd like some info/pics on this as well as any other methods available.

Currently I just put the bike in the bin, but if one needs to take two bikes it becomes a bit more involved with bungy cords etc, which I don't really like bothering with. Plus you can't lock it and luggage space is an issue.

Thanks,

WW.

About 10 years ago I did a very similar installation to that on my Ford Bantam. The Armadillo is really money WELL spent.

Used to sleep under it back in the day too!

I built a rack that fits on top of the load bin above the tonneau cover.

Send me your email and I'll send a photo.

Can't upload pics from my cellphone.

It basically uses Golf mk1 roof rack mounts, longer roof rails and the rack of your choice. On mine everything was DIY'd using square tubing, but you can use off-the-shelf Holdfast parts, and a Thule rack.

Its important that you have some kind of a crossbar welded/mounted between the two roofrails to keep it sturdy.

Oh and be warned, the added drag knocks your fuel consumption when compared with loading bikes in the loadbin.

Oja, click om my blog's link in my signature, there is a post about the rack.

Ok now for the impossible, is there some way to get luggage, 2x bikes, 7ft 1 piece bass rods and 2x canoes on a Ute ?

Doing some thinking and this is worst case scenario if I go away for a holiday.

Probly a towbar rack, canopy with roof rack for the rods and kayaks.

Would not like a canopy though, any other ideas ?

I think you need a trailer or an Isuzu.

The boats and the fishing rods are too long to fit on the loadbin, you'll need to raise them to the roof level. I've seen racks (holdfast and diy) that go up to the roof level so that a roof rack on the roof and the rack at the back supports the boats. Then you can load the bikes and luggage in the loadbin. Maybe fit that thule thing then? That is if you don't want a canopy. It might look like you are a painter or a handy man if you drive around without the boats.

A friend also built a rack like mine, but left out the middle bike rack to leave space for his surfboards.

The qr is only for the front wheel. Rear wheel is tied down with a strap.
