Was there yesterday, eish the wind made it tough.

Does anyone have a profile map of the route please?

We went through on Saturday. We did not ride the main loop but the wind was not as bad as two weeks ago! I believe it was pumping again yesterday and very busy!

SBR rocks! Awesome training for the 94.7. If you can manage a lap of SBR comfortable the 94.7 will be a cinch.See you there on Sunday!

Don't go too fast down "the descent" - park vehicles travel the wrong way and a few of the corners are blind. It's tough to brake I know but the accident earlier in the year is a stark reminder of who wins in a car versus bike head on...

Yes, appears park official are allowed to ride whatever direction they want even in non emergency. I recall the accident earlier was not a parks official but a contractor working in the reserve.

Something else to watch out for is large game, a few riders have been knocked off their bikes.

Where was that?

Some street in Glenvista, not sure the name, first time i've ridden it. I was too busy standing on the pedals trying to move forwards so as not to fall down, Linksfiled ridge is a toughie and longer but this while shorter is a mother.

That's also what I consider to a be a full loop.

If you want to warm up before the first climb, ride down to the gate and back: this gives about 15-20min of riding before you hit the hard stuff.

Doing a couple of repeats around the small loop (right at the top of thefirst climb) is a good way to incrementally add distance without having to commit to doing the full loop again.

Riding alone isn't the best thing but when i can't ride with m8's, the 60 odd km trek out south isn't that bad to i believe an awesome and safe TRAINING ground!

I agree with the warm up part, leave the Protea Parking lot, ride to the entrance gate and back then do the 1st hill.

And depends on how you feeling, the 12km small loop (Protea Hotel Up and right) is a good tester after a 60km lap

Happy Training!
