  1. I was looking at this after i'd built a Rocker Plate and we were in lockdown. Post lockdown, i picked up a Headwind so never went through finding all the bits and hacking my old fan. see my below suggestion is already listed Run 2 fans with the on/off close to you, 1 on high, 1 on med. Switch them on as needed
  2. I met Philip when we swept Cullinan to Tonteldoos, magic guy and somebody i'm following. At first glance you'd think this old ballie's going to be my company for the rest of today. What i realised is he's very methodical, keeps to a pace so he can go for days and doesn't waste time at Water Points. After WP2, we never saw him again. It's hard to describe him, such a positive humble individual. He never brags about his accomplishments and you almost need to drag them out of him. He can teach many athletes a thing or 10 about Ultra Endurance events! GO PHILIP JOU YSTER!!!! Also watching a few other guys and girls i know out there
  3. I know you said road RD and the cheapest fix is the extender, also available from Wayne at Rapide. If you use a MTB RD, you can get a much bigger ratio and it should work with the Road Shimano Shifters. Watching this, been looking to build a Monster Cross for bike packing
  4. Loved following this thread and build! The technical knowledge Maritz will carry forward is immense, he'll be able to "maak n' plan" when he needs to get the bike across the finish line. Too often people don't know how their bikes work and throw in the towel when a simple fix is available. I prefer to do my own bike maintenance, besides knowing my bikes, there's a bit of stress relief in doing what you love. Looking forward to your next project
  5. I've been riding a rigid fork with a "Bolt Thru / Thru Axle" as in it has a nut on the outside of the fork, the threads are not contained in the fork. Built in Sep 2016 (done almost 2000km) and not had any issues with the Frame or Fork etc. It's a 29er HT frame with Rigid fork from Flyxii.
  6. Ditto, myself and a mate had the same issue. Lodged a request initially, NO RESPONSE. Called, spoke to i think Justin, NO ACTION post call. I then spoke to Anay, was informed of the stock issues, was offered the product as sachets, i accepted. Order shipped short: Follow up calls Follow up calls Follow up calls I'm still waiting for somebody to get back to me or deliver the outstanding. I'm done with ASG as well, i'm actually thinking of asking "a well know CPT store" if they can bring in ASG products FYI Hylton: If you were launching a new/changed system, the protocol is to test thoroughly & maybe have a few specials instead of the big bang flood approach and damage your brand reputation!
  7. Solomons had a sale on this past Sunday, they had the Argent for R6k, give them a call, see if they will still do them at that price. Ad was listed on FB, if you don't know anybody there, PM me, i'll give the guys i know a call.
  8. I bought a carbon rigid fork from Flyxii. FLX-FK-8 + Ti Skewer. http://www.flyxii.com/en/products/flx-fk-8-ti-qr-skewer.html Uncut steerer tube (Tapered) I can measure Axle to Crown QR, not TA. If you interested, PM me Willing to let it go for what it cost me ~R1800 when you convert and add VAT etc.
  9. Actually haven't weighed it. Will try sometime but it's not really a priority, i know it's lighter than my Scalpel
  10. Bought my first Chinese Carbon bike, decided it needed to be more fun/practical/low maintenance but still be good for race day. Bought it from Flyxii (FR-216), since the pic, the seat post has been changed to a Matt Carbon, Stem Matt Carbon, Handlebars to 3k weave all supplied by Flyxii. Riding a 2.3 rear, 2.1 front, thinking i need to go wider up front to add a bit more plushness. So far, happy
  11. Hi Hubland If anybody lost a set of Sunglasses at R4V yesterday, i stopped to pick them up off the road. You tell me colour/s and make and if you right we'll arrange to get them back to you. Rgds Clinton
  12. Send them to NF to sort out this: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/146587-overtaking-skill-levels-busy-parks-and-manicured-single-track/ Use it, don't use it
  13. 1. i'm never going to read compact geometry the same ever again 2. i'm going to ask your Mrs about your geometry
  14. Did the Seller give you the measurement? Was it obtained from the bike's geometry by yourself? The Seller should be willing to refund and the bike shipped back i'd say at your cost. Use the feedback section as well, it helps show who are good people to deal with.
  15. Hahahaha, 1 day when you appear in TJOP court you can blame STRAVA? If you knew there would be a couple negative comments, did it not light a candle that you might be the government implementing E-Tolls? I ride NF occasionally with a 7 & 10 year old and they don't even wear elbow and knee guards. Please don't come to Van Gaalens, BRB, Rietvlei, Modderfontein, Groenkloof, Fountains or the Cradle, we'd like to enjoy our rides.
  16. Yussus, i'd jump at the opportunity if i was fit and ready to race and could take leave.
  17. There is signage, seen it from my skinny wheel bike, never saw ChUkKy pass me Agreed that it should be 1 way for safety, but is it really that busy that it can't work both ways? The tracks are wide as hell most places, simple rule should be keep left pass right? Up gets right of way? Same as the Spruit, who says there's a correct way? Why can't people just be tolerant of each other? We had chops scream @ us 1 Groenkloof visit saying we were going the wrong way, yes we were, down a tar road when somebody wasn't feeling well, is it sooooooo BAAAAD?
  18. I had a Ritchey Carbon SuperLogic break. Points back to poor workmanship where the shifter was mounted, was on the edge of the taper which caused a weakness in the carbon and 1x broken flat bar. Fortunately it was discovered after a Van Gaalens Nissan race and before my next MTB outing. The fork service saved my @..
  19. See your OCDness is wearing off, the labels aren't aligned for the pic Hope you keeping well D
  20. Might try pop past, depending what time the work finishes
  21. Cajees works on sell bikes cheap to newbies, while they there sell them all the accessories, helmet, clothing, gloves, shoes, etc etc etc and that's where they make their moola. I've bought 2 bikes thru Cajees Centurion, i've built a relationship with Moosa and i drive from JHB to get stuff. That's about the only Cajees store i'll deal with, he's also arranged me other good deals on parts/spares etc and each time i call, if he has to he calls me back with info and pricing. I don't put Moosa in the same picture as the other Cajees stores. The rest of the stores, i don't bother with anymore. As for Ghosts, i've got a 26" RT Lector still, very happy with my machine. Ballistic Bike Trading in Zeiss road (think it's Honeydew) are the agents and i'm sure Henry or Fraser can help you with pricing. Frame crack is 1 think, poor workmanship (from any bike shop) is another thing. I won't ever take my bike to a Cajees to be serviced!
  22. There was a guy in front of me that stopped just before the bridge, tried to get going and wobbled. He was heading off, i was just too far to grab him, fortunately his left leg was unclipped and he managed to jump off his bike, no serious injuries but that fall was far down, 1-2m.
