Aag nee man! You completely miss the point. There is elegance in that there tie-less tube slapsock.

 

Nice job Steve. My next one will be like that. I used to do them using a complete road bike tube but then the last bit was really tough to do and I needed a sturdy screwdriver and lots of elbow grease to get the end folded under. I like your gippo version of the original.

Exactly how I do it- its neat and the real thing to do on an MTB. To secure it further I turn the loose bit back again, under the last turn of the tube strap, so the tube end is pointing backwards. Then the only thing you have to worry about is that if the tube picks up a nick it can unravel quite quickly, so you have to keep an eye om it.
