I know this topic has been discussed a million times on here, but its quicker & easier to just ask for myself. I know its a personal choice but I would like to narrow the search down to what I need. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for some light, fast free rolling tyres that can be used for both training & for racing(only 1 set of wheels for me) Something that is grippy around the corners but rolls nicley. It would need to be able to handle a bit of mud(rainy season in Durbs) Then to also continue into the hot summer, which would be hard packed trails. Ive just put a Kenda Excavator on the front & a Geax Barro Mountain on the back with advice from my LBS(bad idea). They are feeling slow and very very slugish, makes pedalling very hard. So not a happy bunny at the moment. :(

I dont want to have to buy a third set in a short space of time - So please help :)

So after sifting through 6 pages of threads about tyres some really old ones too(2006) The general consensus is Race Kings are tops, Maxxis Lust or Racing Ralph's come in second & third respectivly, for the back. Still not 100% certain what to do :(

Best set up based on what you describe is Mountain King front, Race king back OR put 2 Racing Ralph's on F&B

Have you ever used those in mud?

Believe me they are crap in mud.

Best is go with Maxxis Monorail front and Crossmark back. You can't beat this setup. Super gripy but fast rolling and bullet proof.

Geax Saguaro front and back good training and race setup especially if youre not a lightweight

spez captain front and a fastrak back good race setup (I know a guy that raced in the WP XC series with mud with fastrak back and front)

maxiss plenty problems with delamination and loss of shape on the sidewall once the stans gets in - my personal experience and not great for the wet.

I have Geax Saguaro front and back. Been on them for a few months now. Very durable, very fast, good in the wet. Not good in sand.

But I'm very happy with them.

I went with the Conti Race Kings 2.2 , what a differance. They roll like a marble on glass, and stuck to the corners. Great buy. They do why a bit though - 700g. Is the non ust the better otption to go for next time or the 2.0? From what I was told the non ust dont seal well and leak air through the sidewalls id this true, or was I spun a sales pitch?

Nice choice!! sweet looking tyres too!! Stick to the safety of the UST, otherwise i ride the croccmarks front and rear and love them, okes have said if i put the monorail upfront will get even better though!
