Garmin edge 500 spd/cad sensor not working

Hi all. My girlfriend has an edge 500. About 2 months ago the spd/cad sensor stoped working. Ive now changed the battery, but the reset light still doesnt come on and the garmin doesnt detect it. Ive now changed the battery again, but still no luck. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Yup, some of those garmin speed/cadence sensors are just crap. Yours should still be under warranty, take them back to the shop or Avnic and have it replace.

 

If you want to prevent this from happening again, some DIY is required. (sorry cant find the document now) but it requires opening up the unit and waterproofing the contact points.

 

The problem is that Garmin sees these as consumables and not as part of your equipment, so have it replaced now while still under warranty because they will not even blush when asking you to pay for a new one.
