LazyTrailRider Posted December 16, 2010 Share https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/36792-what-does-ust-stand-for/ In case you don't want to read every single hubber's opinion, it's short for Universal System Tubeless. UST tires are specifically made for tubeless applications, and can be run tubeless even without sealant. They have a thicker carcass than normal tyres, and are heavier. Supposedly, the bead's better suited to seating and sealing in a tubeless setup, but that may just be marketing-talk, as many "normal" tyres run just fine in tubeless mode. You'll immediately know whether a tyre is UST when you pick it up, its sidewall is much thicker.
