I dont think you need provincial approval when applying for CSA membership.

Your club needs to confirm that you are a member that is it. (I know it show different on the CSA website but why would the provincial bodies need to be involved in confirming club memberships?)

For a racing license it is however required that it be approved provincially, but who's responsibility this is remains to bee seen

RENEWAL OF YOUR DOMESTIC TV LICENCE

Tankman, I am pretty sure of this as the process definitely went through two approvals the first being club which took 24 hours for Roag to respond ( it could have been quicker but i was offline) and then it waited for a response from the province which took about 6 hours. I have a feeling that this step was instituted on request from Central Gauteng so that they could collect their fee. The CSA website specifically said that "some" provinces want to approve membership first. This would seem to be Mampara's experience.

Has anyone that falls under CGC using the CSA website to take membership for next year been able to complete the process without taking up CGC membership ???

Yup I know what the process says on the website but for us in the Western Cape that belong to PPA the CSA membership is included in our yearly membership.

So theoretically if you are a PPA member then you dont even need to apply for CSA membership, so why would a provincial body need to approve it? When you enter a race, your details pop up and confirms that you are a CSA member.

PPA members do not need to pay R75 for membership, but still need to register on the CSA website to be on their (CSA) database. PPA members are predefined by PPA and already in the database - they just need to be activated through the registration process

that still does not answer the provincial approval issue

Provincial approval for you will be PPA, and they are responsible for approving your application. I would contact them directly to find out

are you just sucking this stuff out of your thumb or what?

I have already contacted PPA, CSA, WCPA, ROAG as mentioned in my earlier post.

From PPA - "PPA cannot approve full/racing licenses – the decision was taken that PPA can approve only membership licenses, so as to not take away the need for clubs in the Western Cape"

From WPCA - "ROAG is not a registered WPCA or PPA club. They may be affiliated to Boland. The club needs to apply for membership to WPCA. Once accepted by all the clubs, can we process the membership. Until such point, I’m unable to assist with your license"

From whoever answers the membership@cyclingsa.com email but clearly not CSA themselves - "PPA is responsible for your “membership” application at the moment and must approve this application. You have chosen PPA as your affiliate for membership – we cannot see if you have paid your PPA fees. We are in discussions with PPA and are trying to get their permission to automatically approve their applications" No comment about the provincial approval though?

Let us just be clear there is a difference between CSA membership and a Racing License and I am after the latter

Seems most of you guys 'n gals at least got your licence. I applied in June or July (first joined Fat Tracks in PE). paid my CSA fees and within 10 days I was e-mailed that my licence was approved, was advised of a number and was told that this temporary letter was valid for X period - and that my official licence & paperwork would be with me in 7 - 10 days. Well, it is now the end of the year and despite a dozen e-mails from me (and some from Fat Tracks), I have nothing to show for my money. Doesn't that constitue fraud ?????

Some of my later e-mails were not polite as I consider them a bunch of incompetent a-holes. Come renewal time, I will insist that my 2010 fees be used to issue me with my 2011 licence as I have had no benefit from my money to date. If they are unwilling, I shall simply hang around 50m down the road from the start of any race I might decide to do and I will simply join in from there - I don't need any official results to enjoy riding with a bunch of fellow cyclists - and, as far as I know, there is squat they can do.

Nope not sucking, i am technically involved - your profile is awaiting approval by PPA (for both membership and racing lic). Based upon the responses from PPA and WCape - it seems there is an issue with club ROAG being affiliated in the Western Cape, and prob the reason why it has not been approved by PPA. based upon the response by membership@, I would wait and see what they say tomorrow as it appears they will be following up with PPA

great to hear that you are involved, please tell me who is responsible for approving my Provincial status, it is clearly not PPA

My club membership was approved, I dont know by who PPA or ROAG, in the next step it went over to "awaiting provincial approval" and this is where we are stuck now?

oh it was ROAG that confimed/approved my club membership - remembered getting a mail from them once they approved it.

When you say you are technically involved to you mean technically as you form an integral part of the CSA licensing process or technically as in you supply them with bandwidth or some other IT service? ;)
