Import Duties on Cycling Shoes from UK

Hi guys, considering buying some Tri Shoes from a UK online store (Evans and not CRC). Anyone know what the import duties are through the Post Office. I've read the topic where it says it's 30% + VAT but just wondering if anyone has personal experience and what they paid.

 

The Post Office is a bit of a potluck when it comes to duties and it seems it's left up to the customs clerk mood on the day.

30% + VAT + 10% duties... mine duties and all that stuff added 50% in total to the online price I paid... So it's not always as cheap as it looks...

 

They calculate it on the invoice you present when collecting the goods at the PO...

Earlier this year I placed 2 separate orders-

 

1) In March I paid a total of 16% upon collection at the post office

2) In August I paid a total of 32% upon collection at the post office

 

Pot luck seems to be the order of the day.

 

Anyway on both occasions I purchased Sidi shoes and still paid (in total) less than or equal to the local stores cost price.

 

 

I placed another order last week (24 Dec) midday, the goods have been dispatched Now I wait

Don't just order shoes,try and order other parts as well.mix the order up.

Shoe,rotors,cables etc.

So difficult to try and guessestimate what you're going to pay. I've been buying stuff online for years and there has NEVER been any consistency with the duties I've paid.
