So.... After seeing all those 29ers go raceing past me at the Attakwas, I have set myself a goal and will be getting a 29er HT in the near future.

Need some input as both are similairly priced and specced for the most part.

Whick will give me better long term fun and will be the better setup to systematically upgrade (when the wife isnt looking)?

The Scott is lighter at stock spec and seems to have the better wheels.

The Giant has a tapered headtube and pretty decent Fox through axle shock but is heavier due to wheels mainly.

Thanks folks

Rode both while looking for a 29er. To be fair though neither of the rides was on any seriously challenging or technical tracks.

Personally preferred the Giant although I don't like flat bars and did not think much of the brakes. Felt light and very responsive.

You certainly don't get the impression that either bike is heavy while riding, in fact I think they weigh significantly less than my 26" dually.

I took a spin on my buddy's Giant XTC and with the tapered head tube and through axle the front end is very stiff and the steering feels a lot more responsive than my On-One Scandal. And it is confidence inspiring when descending some knarly rocky section.

I think it's awesome value for money.

Giant weight 11.4kg size L; Scott 11.6kg size L. I'm getting myself the Giant better setup, grait frontend with the Fox. Only thing is the rims but will swap them for ZTR's the hubs are good thou
