Saturday, November 24 ^th: Bicycling the <?:NAMESPACE PREFIX = U1 />Third Mainland Bridge!!

Yes, it really can be done, a truly unique experience. A 30 km ride on environmental Saturday, November 24th. We had about 35 'survivors' from last year, so we plan to repeat the trip this year.  We are getting the notice out well ahead of time so you can start training!   You will need a bike and a 'proper' bike helmet is MANDATORY - no helmet, no ride, no exceptions. We'll provide the sag wagons (although no one needed one last year) and mopol. Departure will be at 7 AM from Shell Trustee Estate and we'll return there for BYO snacks and drinks (nothing better than a coldie on Saturday morning after a ride) and a dip in the pool.

Ooopsie................ forgot to say Third Mainland Bridge is the longest bridge in Africa and connects Lagos Island to the Nigerian Mainland.

I have unpleasant memories of that bridge/causeway which I got to know quite intimately for 6 hours one evening on the way to the airport. Cycle it? No thanks but I'll help them blow it up!

It will be during Sanitation Saturday when there are no Traffic. We will have MOPOL (Mobile Police) escort as assistance .

 

Well do not be so damn negative you bunch of freeks. This is the one and only bicycle event we ever have in Lagos.

 

Oily, the work up to Mobil should be finished by end December at the latest........ but then the work up to Lekki starts and the main contract up to km 49 will also start quite soon.
