it gives speed and distance if you are not using a stride sensor or a speed sensor for your bike. also plots your route on google maps. obviously no cadence data or stride length data are given. If you use the G3 and speed sensor simultaneously, the speed sensor (or stride sensor) overrules the G3.

The G3 pod can give distance and speed but does not track you movement on your watch. I think it does plot it out on Google earth but I'm not 100%.

This is correct it doesnt show on the watch but it does plot the data on google, or garmin. I have one and I use regularly. The one plus is that unlike some Garmins if the battery goes dead you just put a standard AA battery in and your away again.

I use it will RS800CX watch and the cadence sensor on the bike.

No issue with it to date.

All Polar agents should stock it, I think they are about R1000.
