Cap, I had a quick look at the article and I'm not sure what its point is. It is all to be expected - variables in spring rate from brand to brand.

 

The actual number on the spring (or the strain gauge) for that matter, really is irrelevant to you downhill bombers and even more so to marathon riders. If a given spring works for you, it works for you. If a spring is too soft or too hard, you try another one. If you stay within the same brand, you can be assured that the next one up will be up and the next one down, will be down.

 

I suppose when switching brands, you could end up going softer when your intention was to go the other way...

It's just for info JB. Always nice to see what's rarely mentioned, but is a reality: tolerances and variations in manufacturing. But as someone commented on over at sicklines about the reviewer's location: " It must be winter"... :lol:
