  1. 64 Audi A4 Car jackings is enough to caution to me.... Or is it best to throw caution to the wind and not give a F, more or less..................... Hang in New Zealand, no one would bother flogging a Toyota...
  2. Shimano seems to be............... I am just liking the Campag record kit, it seems to get better with age, like wine... On an MTB SRAM XO eats Shimano in all areas, their new XTR will not pull them out of the undergrowth either............... 1:1 pulling is tops all round Go Campy & SRAM................................Shimano. LOL
  3. Lost the conversation there Daemon, hope you are worng about the 2010 WC, that is an opportunity to totally have the world se SOuth Africa in a different light is it not? The people of South Africa surely must understand this, maybe not, but are they educating or attempting to educate on this?
  4. Scotty, you start a best value for money one................ That way will haev all bases covered............. My vote will not change..
  5. Yep, wanted to do the MTB thing, but the roadies out number the MTB's on here, hence I have a foot in each camp...LOL Have seen the SRAM Force groupset, looks nice, to me not as trick and bling as Record........... Guess we will start seeing a good number of Pro's using it soon..... Also thought the same when I typed value, but hey gotta have the options....
  6. More than likely been done, but nothing wrong with a second round.. Think quality, performance, value, reliability, set up etc should be taken into account...................
  7. Yep, you have burst my bubble.................LOL What is the mentality behind mugging someone, then to have to shoot them. Is that becasue they feel you will come back and hunt down there family so to speak? Every city in the world has its bad bits, your just gets bought to the attention of the world more, a shame really. Stats wise it is up there though...... I guess they will be trying hard to clean this up by the Football WC in 2010.... Have been 6 times to South Africa, never had an issue either. touch wood, crossed fingers, arm, legs, tung......
  8. These shots should make you feel better in the rain.... http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?p=2329960#poststop glad that there is no bike jacking.....
  9. I was replying in jest also.................It is indeed a beautiful place, ALMOST as beautiful as New Zealand (LOL) had to say that, my home town.... I have loved every minute each of the 6 times I have been to South Africa, have never had a problem... It is a hard moving with work, they bring all this to the floor. And with having another car jacking this week, it has them questioning things, which sux?s really................. you are so correct, every country has its dodgy areas... Hang even NZ does..... Yes plenty of mtb ride, but LOADS & LOADS of road riders....
  10. Yep, the speed there is kinda great and kinda nervy.... Spain and Italy where I am at present drive like rape dapes..... Is it true that they are not happy if when being jacked that you just say here are the keys have it... A few of the ones in the company have been kidnapped for some hours...
  11. Still doing the move to South Africa, have seen the stats about car jackings etc, has not bothered me really. Not ignoring it, but being sensible about not getting roped into all the written crap.... In our company in South Africa, some 30 odd staff, we have had 4 car jackings in 8 months In real terms, is this odd. What are your views? What is a decent car that is calling out to be car jacked? your help would be much appreciated....as usual...
  12. PERFECT quote for Campag, so true...
  13. mmmmmmmmm at present kind of think the road side manner of Spanish motorists is non existent all round. Never had to risk my life so much. The Spanish car company Seat, I feel like writing to them and asking why they bother having indicaters on their cars, cause they never get used... Survived today though, naother day alive...
  14. Big ratio of Roadies to mtb riders... Picked this up, or os it that there is wat more roadies on this site.. What makes road cycling so popular in South Africa?
  15. Cheers, love it, a great ride it is...............
  16. Daemon, look at the options, you will see Freeriding there...... No room for Trials, had it there, then changed it to Roadies. Glad I did, there is a heck of a lot of roadies....
  17. Hear ya DR, it is hard to totally define them............. Are most XC riders riding weight weenie Hard tails? Or more Full Sus bikes..... Is there many pure FR areas with jumps, teeters, drops etc etc etc Cheers
  18. very good thread and topic. I usually sit climbing mostly, only really stand to give my butt a break, or pass someone, you can so tell that you need to pump more oxygen though..............
  19. Hi All. Preparing for my move to South Africa. This poll only allows 5 options, am keen to hear the segments within mtb you ride, have only put one segment for the road Appreciate your votes, will help me gauge what is the big segments in RSA Cheers WhafeWhafe2006-10-05 03:56:39
