  1. I ride XTR cass. and change chains every 1000km and have not needed cass. change in 2 years. But that is a seriously sexy cassette, same machining as the xx one. They say 9 hrs on the cnc machine per unit!!??? The hassle I have with 980 and xt cassettes is that the 2nd and 3rd gears tend to bend.Have also done this with 990.No such problems with XTR and I recon its not possible with the new Sram ones.
  2. Aaaaahh yes, I remember, that was one of the easy years,,,,,,,,,for me. The next year was more of a challenge,I did the same route with a corsa bakkie.
  3. The frame is a bit "Porky'? But it sounds like a good mix Now order yourself one of the new 999 cassettes from sram. 175 grams due here end March can drop 100 gr in one quick move. Approx R2k
  4. Eish, saw another tallboy on the weekend,NICE. But for now I am over the duals. I am enjoying the awsome speed of h/tails. My new Niner Scandium is only due end of the month.....patience.
  5. They are the airozine x12sl ,they are great value for money, very light so that leaves it on the not so strong side.... You know the theory? STRONG LIGHT CHEAP You can NEVER have more than 2 If you are under 85 kgs ,try them. R2000.00 a set including Ceramic BB incl. postage
  6. Here you go - you were right about the bike! Thanks What can i do to look faster for the camera? out in
  7. Those Green Mambas were flying the one in the pic looks like Louis Bressler Knipe
  8. Did you get me? Rider 95 29er Giant Look for the sexiest bike.......not rider
  9. Have seen pics of the air carbon Very sexy, but don't know what it will weigh. Carbon is not always lighter and I don't like the sound of rocks on the down-tube. I think the air is the next frame for me. Will call them now..... Thanks I found the HAMMER>
  10. The frame is medium 1620grams I built nukeproof hubs with wheelsmith db15 spokes and sun eq21 rims the wheels are not super light,1750 grams with out skewers and rotors still use the stock wheels for local riding and general tossing about.
  11. So if I drop those chunky bar ends and change the frame,it would be sub 10kgs......................................................................................................................................... Oooooh I just got this funny itch now. I am off to break my "Piggy Bank" where is that hammer...?
  12. Everything but the fork ,frame and headset. also no carbon on the bike besides the bottle cage. Rides great, just did 24 hrs Wiesenhof Solo this weekend. climbs like a mountain-goat (on steroids) light, nimble. Love it Altough,if I change frame to Niner scandium Air it will be 270 grams lighter.
  13. This is what my Giant XTC 29er looks like after the diet. 10.6 until I get the cane creek bar ends off.I think those are 230gr. It started at 11.8kgs with no pedals.
  14. I have been playing with bits and bobs, not too expensive, trying to get my 29er Xtc as light as is affordable. What have you got and with what kit and weight? Mine is down to 10.6kg with pedals and sealant.
  15. I had a set of those rims the DT 470,jeeese.....almost bomb proof just sold them yesterday so I will now start negotiating with Doug to string me up a set of the new ones one those hubs and maybe some blue spokes.
  16. what smack the horse so it doesnt squeal ? No,put disc cleaner under the horses tail, the squeal(ing rider) will go away
  17. No , put disc cleaner under it's tail and hear the rider squeal
  18. Weldtite also does discbrake cleaner.
  19. Car disc cleaner will work if the pads got parrafin or other solvents on them...new pads or not they might have got some on at some point.....also more agressive use of discs will minimize the squeal,I see many "glazed " rotors on bikes that don't get ridden hard enough. If all else fails, roughen up the pads and rotors with sand paper.
