  5. Heard the farmers almost want to give it for free for the next few months. Buy direct and cut out the middleman who will be the only one benefitting. Source 702 this afternoon.
  6. Agreed. In some instances it is better for the kids. Abusive relationships as an example. Always a very tough situation with very tough decisions. Why I said what I said is because the father to a very large degree forms the character (lol I hope I spelled it correctly) of the child and in the case of a girl her father becomes the yardstick with which she measures men. For a boy the way his father treat the woman around him will be the example in the way he will treat woman. Therefore together or divorced the father plays a huge roll in his kids life. That is if he wants to.
  7. I have never been divorced but had a few near misses. Also inspite of what I said in my post1212 I want to say the following based on counseling which I received. Divorce must be the absolute last choice. Try everything else before that as divorce in 99% of cases are nasty. Resolving the issues could be better in most instances. The children suffer the most. Statistics also show that there is a big chance that children of divorced parents will also divorce one day. Inspite of what leads to the divorce most people has some baggage which leads to certain behaviours. This contributes to the problem which eventually leads to the decision to get divorced. If the party/parties dont deal with this baggage they just take it to their next relationship. During my own near misses I also had to critically look at myself and had to be brutally honest with myself, made some changes to how I did things and worked hard at the relationship. One of my big deciders was the following and this I must admit influenced my decision greatly. My children. I love them too much to be without them. People say women loves the children more than a man. Dont know about that.
  8. Cannot change the past but you can change the future. From my own experience after my serious break up ( not a divorce but we were together for a few years) I felt exactly what you desribed here. Now years after the breakup and getting a lot wiser I finally understood that what I went through then was feeling rejected. Now also looking back I realized that the relationship would have never worked and I am actually glad that we separated. I learned through this process to be able to handle the "feeling rejected" Not saying it is the case with you but it was the case with me. I was ok after we separated but when I saw her with her new guy it hit me like a hammer. I was also single at the time which made the rejection worse.
  9. Why does it make you feel bad? Money is not everything and should not determine your level of happiness. Sorry but just a thought.
  10. Heading into summer properly. Went riding this morning and after 09H00 it was close to 30 degrees C. Soke days close to 36 degrees. This is Hoedspruit.
  11. Did it 3 years ago. Was tough in the beginning but now I don't even miss it apart from sport. But then there are other ways like watching it on U Tube afterwards. No ads, no repeats, dont have to think I am subsidising things I don't like....
  12. Jip. Dirk is busy at times.I have noticed.
  13. JK 1. For me there are a lot of similarities between the Bikehub and 4x4 forum. Like them both. Also active on Cycadfriends. Johan
  14. I am on the 4x4 forum as well.
  15. Only discovered this thread now via a link. WOW some motivating story's here. Growing old. It is all in the mind. Born end of 1959. Raced from 1978 to 1994 then relaxed a bit to 1997 when I started racing again till 2000. I had a big scare at the end of 1999. Dr discovered my left legbone was totally hollow from below the femur to half way down to my knee. Ended up with a steel plate to keep everything together. In places the bone was like an eggshell. Felt very sorry for myself for 16 years as family, work and stress prevented me from training. ( My excuse). Grew fat and unfit. Reached turning point in 2016 and bought myself a new MTB and have trained seriously since end of 2016. Keen to start racing again once I can get the weight off. No use being fit but carry 20kg extra with you. Johan
  16. Campag Record hubs with Mavic rims and Shimano 105 hubs with Wolber rims. Everything frim the 1980's
  17. Thanks for the responses. I will clean up all and post photos over the weekend. Everything was stored in the roof but it was covered with an oily cover so everything is now covered with an oily dust. Hubs are all ok and still working. Must just be repacked with grease. Johan
  18. Hi All. Only discovered the thread a few days ago. Awesome to see all the old bikes coming back to life. I might have a few bits and pieces. I am not sure if I must mention the items here or is there a for sale thread where I should post it. If wrong apologies. I have two complete road wheel sets (7 block clusters) as well as 2 loose rims. Also have a back wheel rim which takes a tubby. Mostly Shimano components but rims are Mavic. I quickly had a look after posting. It looks like the one wheel set is Campag. I will scratch around as I think I have a handlebar somewhere and brake levers ext. Let me know. Thanks Johan
  19. Interesting topic. What about knee problems with changing cranks? I would assume not only do you have to lower or raise your saddle to accomodate a different length but also adjust it forward or backwards. I used to train on one bike and race on another and I developed knee problems only to discover the saddle on my race bike was different to the training bike in terms of how far back I sat in relation to the 3 o clock/9 o clock losition. It was only 15 mm but my knees felt it. The cranks were the same length though. Shorter cranks which results in having to put down more effort will also put more strain on knees. Anyway just my thoughts on the matter.
  20. Don't know if it was him but their team started using LOOK clipless pedals. The Badger nickname I always thought was because of his tanacity. Back to Lemond who improved year after year and was climbing and timetrailing better and better. Hence the need for a gentlemans agreement. Let me win this year then I will let you win next year. That last TDF win of Hinault can be credited to Greg. He towed Bernard over the mountain tops.
  21. Thats how it was done then. Also no helmet. Also check out how the gears were changed back then. I still have a roadbike frame that has a similar setup. Only recently upgraded it to shift with my brake levers.
  22. LOL. There was an agreement. Bernard must won. That next year never came if my memory is any good because he (Greg) was injured. Greg was in the tour with the Z Team when he came back. Something like that.
  23. That was a nail biter. One of the only times I know of when the TDF last stage was the timetrail. LeMond won the tour by 8 seconds. You speak about Fignon being robbed. Greg was also robbed as he had to ride shotgun for Bernard Hinault that tour before he got shot by his brother in law. I believe he could have won that tour if he was not told to hold back to allow Bernard Hinault to won his last tour.
