I've just found my new favourite LBS CWC online I ordered LX sti shifters on friday from CWC (my first adventure into online shopping) and went to collect after work reception from the guys in the front was excellent, at the back the discovered that they were sold out of the LX Sti's without a hassle they gave me XT sti's for the same price. Thanx CWC you will be seeing more of my hard earned cash ( if my wife allows)
  3. I commute from Richwood through to Bellville daily have had no problems on the road. Only hectic area I find is getting from the left hand lane onto the bridge over the N1 as cars try to take the slipway into the city.

  5. I'm currently considering upgrading from 8 speed to 9 speed ?Is there that great a difference ? where do they fit the extra gear high low or in between ? Is it just engineered obsolescence to generate a new market
  6. CATEYE CATEYE CATEYE i've managed to clocke my Cateye astrale 8 twice 20 000km and still going strong very occasional error on average speed but reset sorts it out
  7. Hi Grumpy I'll keep an eye out for you I commute daily between Burgundy and Bellvile I normall leave about 5:30 from the Total alternating routes around the hill. Will be on MTB so will try to keep up.

  14. A mate of mine at work has one I'm trying to convince him to part with it. does anybody know where spares/parts for the rear hub and gears can be found.

  16. Is it possible to run a Deore rear derailleur with an 8 speed Sunrace cluster and Altus shifters. My chain runs fine on all gears besides 6 and 7 it slips if I apply any decent force the gear change from 8 to 7 is quick and smooth. Chain is new, cluster is new (derailleur 2nd hand) any ideas what the problem could be??

The biggest problem with this situation is that us as cyclists would like to be treated with respect as road users but there is always a few idiots who will alway mess things up - Think about that taxi driver has a negative opinion about cyclists so next he gets in a 50/50 situation who's gonna come off second best.

I've recently replaced the hanger on my Kona whatever you do dont lose your original most bike shops will need to see a sample to match your hanger my.LBS had a board with various shapes and sizes and trial fitted them to my frame - I was bright enough or recognition to try and repair my broken hanger and wasted it beyond repair

  21. A friend of mine is looking for a replaceable droput for hi Schauff Hardline PH1 - can a replaceable dropout from a different bike be modififeid to fit and if so are their any critical measurements to be considered

    Mission acomplished lay bicycle on it's side supported with packing to protect frame hammer and cold chisel work your way around the crank. It came off quite easily minor damage to surface of crank arm and chainring Thanks hubber for all the tips and ideas

    I have a sealed BB so the shaft can't come out that's the procedure i used to replace my original BB

  25. Hi Hubbers, I'm looking for ideas to remove my cranks from my mountain bike - the drive side thread is stripped so the crank extractor doesnt work - cranks are being replaced so total destruction is an option but preferably as last resort pleeeeez help
