  1. Anyone in Potch this Saturday(13 Apr) keen on partnering up for a MTB ride?
  2. Hi hubbers I am in the Strand from 3-7 April, and would love to hit some easy\moderate trails near the Strand area. I won't be bringing my bike with, so I am looking for a place that has rental bikes. Closer to Strand would be better, since that would give me more time to ride. On strict time limitations as imposed by the wife-boss, so don't want to drive too far. Thanks in advance!
  3. Thanks, guys. I was under the impression bluetooth devices can only connect to one other device at a time. If I can do it this way, I should be able connect speed/cadence to both iPad + watch as well?
  4. I use a Wahoo Tickr X HRM, which is connected to TrainerRoad during the workout. But it sounds like I should rather connect the HRM to my Garmin watch, and the trainer to the phone? Which would suck since my TrainerRoad workout wouldn't have any HR data associated.
  5. I am using an indoor trainer at the moment for my workouts, but I am not getting any credit from Discovery for the workouts. I monitor HR and all the other metrics in ipad/iphone running TrainerRoad, and then sync to strava. I then export from Strava and import to Garmin Connect. But these activities are not pulling through to Discovery. Any idea how to get this to work?
  6. I am looking for 2/3 more people to join My Vitality Rewards team. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  7. Hi guys and gals I own a mtb only, and want to get a setup for indoor training. What do I go for... A Kickr OR A Kickr Snap and a R5Kish road bike second hand for a more permanent setup I like the idea of having a fixed setup where I can just jump on, instead of having to take the back wheel off and on every time. What would I be sacrificing with the Kickr Snap?
  8. Hi hubbers New to the cycling world, so this might be the dumbest question of the day :-) I have a 27.5 MTB, and picked up a second hand CycleOps Fluid2 for some indoor training. I don't want to use the knobbly back wheel on the trainer, and my rear wheel's quick release doesn't fit the Fluid2 anyway. What is my best option here? Getting another 27.5 wheel with a smooth tire? Buying a dirt cheap 2nd hand road bike for exclusive use on the trainer? Sticking a road wheel on the mtb when training indoors? I can get a 10 speed road cassette (my mtb is 2x10), not sure if this will work? What other options do I have?
  9. Nice thread to follow. I started using the MyFitnessPal app about 10 days ago to track my diet. Even though I still have stuff like milk tart, etc I found that it keeps me very conscious of my diet choices. It gives me a target kj intake for each day, and I track everything I put in my mouth. Without much exercise (less than 40km on the bike over a few sessions), I was able to drop almost 2kg's in this time. My current weight is lower than when I was doing Crossfit 3 times a week for a 12 month period (which had little effect on nett weight as my diet choices were bad at the time). Give the app a try, it works for me, and I know of a few others who also had good success with it. If nothing else, I have learnt alot in the past 10 days about diet choices.
  10. I'm keen for the Pta class. Rosemary Hill/Big Red Barn/Wolwespuirt all work for me
  11. Hi hubbers I just bought my first mtb (last time I owned a bike was about 13 years ago). I plan on doing some casual riding at Rosemary Hill and those types of places, but also want to look at doing some 40km type races for fun. I don't own any of the heart rate monitors, power meters, etc. How do I go about getting fitter and reaching the point where I can join a group for a 20-30km ride? I have some fitness equipment at home (kettlebells, barbell, skipping rope). From what I have seen I probably shouldn't be on the bike every day. Look forward to your thoughts.
  12. Thanks, guys. This is my first mtb in about 15 years, so I am brand spanking new to the sport. Perhaps I should just put flat pedals on since I don't own cleats anyway? Spare the expense of buying cleats, and just keep the flat pedals until I am ready to go for the cleats.
  13. Now that I think about it, is it wortwhile to try and do this? Or should I get some mtb shoes and just accept that I need to put them on when I am riding with the kids?
  14. Hi guys I am back with another newbie question :-) I just bought my first MTB, but it came with cleat only pedals. I will be using this bike to ride around the street with my boys, so I need pedals that can be used with cleats (in future) and ready for quick ride down the road when I am just playing around with my boys. What are my options? I have heard that those dual pedals with a cleat on one side and the platform on the other is a pain on the trails when clicking in\out while riding, and they pick up a lot of mud. I am happy to buy second hand from the Hub, but I don't even know what exactly I am looking for :-) Look forward to hearing from you guys.
