  1. Yes, it does need some adjusting... B-screw, seems right. There is a bit more focus needed on gear selection, not to cross chain, but I managed to get my chain setup to the point where the slack is not too big an issue, but would not ride it in slack obviously. It takes some getting used to. One thing I did notice on mine... The bike had an unplanned, unmanned, horizontal spontaneous dismount. There was a slight bend in the hanger, which threw out the gears to a horrible degree. I think the extended reach has a multiplier effect if even out a little bit. I fixed it with the Hanger Alignment Tool, Park Tools have a great one, but the chinese ones will also work. So maybe also check the hanger, and it might help a bit. Yes, the design of the extender could be improved, but I think it is designed to be a flexible application as not all settings on all bikes would be done the same. I actually looked at this not too long ago, and thought I would like to take the std hanger and extender as a unit to an engineering shop and see if they can't CNC me one as a single unit... Anyone with connections? Also, last remark, mine runs without any significant sound; in fact, I would say the same as the original setup, but I also adjusted the front mech (on the original setup). Might come down to frame design and alignment? Doing a little trip this weekend. Decided to test the full rig setup. Will let you guys know how it went... (Spot the Moto bags)
  2. Right? I think the venue for the number of people was good, a lot of potential. But rather than it growing organically, it felt a bit forced?
  3. So... In absolutely no derogatory way... did some E-bikes catch up to the slower rear of the 65 pack. Just gonna say, the way they pushed some of the poor people out of the way, flying past on some sections, it did not look emotionally healthy... for them. One guy pulled past some poor girl in front of us, struggling up this hilly section, muttering abuse like Harvey Epstein on roids, all the way to the top. You could really hear him going at her.... and the image... reminded me of my baby girl throwing down her toys and storming off when she doesn't get her way. I'm not judging E-bikes, well, I do all the time, but more about people flipping out and passing others, that it looks like they are looking for third base, don't get their way, and bursting off in typical "ag siestog fashion". See, looks like Rage Quit.. Maybe there is a better term?
  4. Jajaja, but the big smoke is a bit of a drive for a night ride... ..(PTA/JHB)
  5. Just me.... or was the waterpoints... a bit.... Meh this year? And, what was up with the E-Bike "Rage quit" brigade? I mean... WOW! Your motor is impressive and all, but... just...wow...
  6. Must've been nice.... Wish I could be there.
  7. Awesome!! Hope it serves you well! Looking forward to the next trip, and the report back on the conversion.
  8. Hahaha, and... did a trip while back on the adventure bike, had a set of these permanently fixed to my pannier rack, or so I thought... got nicked at a camp, with my tooltube, next day.. flat.. oh Murphy you Bastard!
  9. I hear you, but hardly, if ever use it. The one time I did, I used a rim saver to protect the rim. IYKYK... (here is looking at the motorcyclist)
  10. Oh, also have one of these, but hardly use it.
  11. Always found Pedros good, *Stock foto
  12. So, I will honestly say that the 13+% Climbs still makes itself known, but it is easier. I thought about the XT cassettes for the conversion, but right now not regretting the bigger ratio. I'm aiming to do Suikerbos again this weekend... more testing... Sidenote. Also love the range I'm getting on the big chainring with the bigger rear ratio available. Now, looking for some Front Fork racks, anyone got some ideas?
  13. Hi, The conversion is actually easy. But, I did need 3 things. 1. CASSETTE KMC CS11S 11-50 HG - Evobikes https://share.google/fDCWpXQdTegAQa5fg 2. New 11spd chain. I got the 11spd SL from KMC. 3. Hanger extender. This was a bit of a question mark as I couldn't get the Goatlink. (More often mentioned). So I got a Chinese (?) Toopre 36 -52 range. Toopre Bicycle Derailleur Cassette Extender 34-52T https://www.takealot.com/toopre-bicycle-derailleur-cassette-extender-34-52t/PLID94410445 Removed the old cassette, fitted the new one. The chain... measured the new chain, max rear to max front... and the chain, out of the box was actually on limit. I choose to do the M on M method as to minimize risk of rear mech pull. Surprisingly I had some good leeway with the B screw adjustment. If you are unfamiliar with this, check on the Parktool YouTube channel, nice explanation there. My mech upper limit screw had some adjustment, but you can check movement yourself. Drive the mech to max with your hand, press the body inwards with your thumb, and pedal. You will see if it reach or is hesitant. If you push the chain off, adjust the reach to less. Cable tention on mine, took up 1.5 turns. The more tricky part... The extender adjustment... this might take some trail and error... i found that full reach forward, adjust B screw on 51t and it was set. Indexing is not the smoothest in the world, but it works. You have considerable spacing on the higher ranges(top pulley wheel to cassette), but, keep in mind cross chaining, and you should be good. Don't do Small Chainring - 11T... you will see why. I adjusted B for some slack, but keep the focus on the 51T spacing. I also have the 810 GRX Mech. All in my conversion was about R 1 800. I actually found the KMC cassette alast year on Takealot, think it was R 880 on special. See they have one for R 995. If you struggle, I would gladly do the conversion for you, but I think Pretoria is a bit far from you 😀 You can also send me a DM and I can walk you through the install if needed. Below, note the down angle and Mech attachment. I think this is the most crucial part.
  14. Did Suikerbos today... love the range, no issues. The 50T is bit much, but can see the usefulness. Also.. fitted the Pannier rack and tested the fit with my GIVI Moto bags... must say, looks like it will do the job.
