  1. @Johan the frame has like a sealed bb area, no opening from the seatpost collar, downtube or dropouts. That is the reason why the sleeve can't go in, the sealed (fitted into the carbon frame) sleeve type bb area is a tad too narrow for the bulging ends of the BB sleeve. Is it OK then?? Q 2: I've always used the matching BB for a crankset....can I use say a Ultegra BB with a FSA MegaExo crankset? the inner diameter is the same? (It is the FSA BB sleeve that has got the bulge)
  2. Is it one of the deadly sins to fit a BB without the sleeve...just the cups? The BB area is sealed (in the frame, no spaces/holes for water entry)???
  3. I have this creaky noise coming from the right, only after stepping down on it, on the upstroke....just below the patella Might fit a grease nipple
  4. Can I safely use my SID team without the lockout's cable and "trigger" fitted, with the rest of the remote lockout parts still fitted, or rather not? Any pro's and cons?
  5. Scam, they don't give you an option to choose your bike size....you can only add the bike to your cart....but don't worry, they'll know which size you need
  6. Look for "Mom" "house/home" and ask them who they are....and "skelmpie" Go to his Blackberry Messenger and continue the chat of one of the last ones, and ask them via a Blackberry message who's phone it is
  7. Which frame?
  8. Have you had any wheels on the bike before? Is it a complete new build up? Brand? Might be that they fitted wrong derailleur hanger or fitted it incorrectly, thus not aligning the wheel. But question remains: has it been built up before or first time?
  9. Probably K-wires from the lateral side of your hand, 2 or 3. Suppose to stay in for 6 weeks.... Mine irritated me after 4....pulled it out with pliers, just get someone to hold you hand back No worries, it'll heal well, if not shattered like wayne_potgieter all functionality will be normal. Next time fall open palms!! All the best with the op!
  10. What is the seatpost diameter??
  11. All the best for 2011!!! I want to buy a new seatpost clamp for my carbon road bike. Is there a difference (and what?) between the one that has got the gap vertical, and in the middle....and the one that's got the off centre skew gap (see examples below)? Other than that, anything else to concider when buying a seatclamp for carbon frames??
  12. Dawie, if it is not a matt finish paint job, get some 1 step cutting polish from a car paint dealer. I removes quite deep scratches and marks/scuffs from cars. Its not too expensive. And/or some 3M Hand Glaze, a bit more expensive, though, and not as quick as the one step cutting polish. If the Hand Glaze don't work, the one step cutting polish would probably do the trick, and if that won't work.....then nothing will!!!
  13. Was your only need to join thehub (only recently) to just make uncalled for comments? (I spotted a hostile tendency in a lot of your posts) I was under the impression that this thread is for sharing individual achievements and reaching set goals, and luckily there is some well mannered folk on here that congratulate said individuals on their reached goals. If an overweight guy who never rode a bike in his life starts cycling and finish an Argus in 6h30 or whatever he has achieved his goal, if a seasoned rider trained relentlessly through the year and PB'ed in 2h45, also he has reached his goal....'atta boy to them both. No need for trashing personal goals here....its rude 'Atta boy (and girls) to everybody who reached their goals in 2010!!!! .....and don't touch me on my studio
  14. Eish George, daar slaan jy nou jou naam darem maar hard met 'n plank. Dude, why the chip on the shoulder? You are not Brandon Willcoks, who in fact came in overall 6th, 3rd only in his cat, so why the need to start lashing out? You would've trashed Franso Steyn as well, had he been on thehub saying HE was 3rd, as he was actually 3rd overall, but first in his cat. Or Jan3 Ferreira who was 3rd in HIS cat, or Peter Stopforth who was 3rd in his cat, or Henry Fagan who was 3rd in his cat, or Nicola Payne who was 3rd in HER cat, or Heidi Koen who was 3rd in her cat, and off course Blyda Malherbe who was 3rd in her cat. And then the little mishap of being totally wrong, misinformed and rude Even though we have all got the google machine and interwebs (I'm not going to start branding using current DSM-IV names as you did yourself by diagnosing from afar a compulsive liar, like diagnosing borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder or obsessive compulsive disorder, all 3 of which does have as a symptom a great need to be always right) No harm, no foul, just apologize, its the gentleman way!!!
  15. Good point, seeing that I am already ordering everything I need form CRC....
  16. I don't know about you guys, but until today I could only replace wheelbearings myself on axles with two threaded ends sticking out on the sides and fastened with a nut (dunno what it's called ). But my American Classic carbons has got these screw-in end caps, and I was stumped. So I took it, against my better knowing to my LBS, and they stripped one end cap by using a torx wrench instead of an allen key!! So furious, I stormed out and vowed to do this myself someway. I did a few searches and got the actual manual form American Classic giving step by step instructions. Got my bearings from Bearing Man at R21 a side and voila, less than 15min later and it works a charm! So I thought I might share the .pdf with you guys just in case there are still some sods like me that don't know how to do these yourself on the screw-in types....and save a bit and be emancipated!! Carbon wiele bearings vervang.pdf And another thing....do you guys think there's a need to make a sticky and post these types of how to's for reference? And then we all contribute what we have?
  17. Give them a ring....its about 70 c a minute on a landline, i've phone them a few times before for changing orders after i've send it through on the web, or for pqrts questions and lead times etc. They're quite helpful
  18. So no buying brake pads again anytime soon for me
  19. " I'd say 10 000km maybe more " OMW!!! That's lekker looooong, almost better than normal black ones! And I just ordered 3 sets from CRC, thought it'll keep for the next 3-4 months Thanks Tarmac!
  20. Thanks Tarmac! Reason I'm asking is that I did expect somewhat better stopping power than what I am experiencing with the swissstops. How long does your pads last (approx)? Have you ever worn through the bracking surface bump (lack of better word ) on a set of full carbon wheels? +1 on the alu rims and changing pads??
  21. Hi guys! What is the best (for braking performance, firstly, and durability second)brake pads for carbon wheels? Is the yellow Sissstop ones good (the best?)?
  22. Thanks Tankman!!
  23. Hi guys! Would a Ultegra 6600 crank fit lekker in a 6700 BB or is there a difference between the 6600 BB cups and the 6700 BB cups....other than the code?? Thanx in advance!
  24. go test the giant one at your Sportsmans warehouse, and make sure you are prepared for THAT NOISE!
