  1. Willie Smit doesn't seem to be having any issues...
  2. This should be added to the commuting rule book. Rule #... Don't be a wuss and call the wife.
  3. I was cycling towards the South. Beautiful tailwind all the way and got caught up in the storm. What a fun commute. Now to clean my bike...
  4. Hopefully it will storm again like last time...
  5. How do I quit? I want to throw in the towel. I'm done
  6. Yesterday was proper cold. I'd be glad if that was in fact the worst of what we'll have to endure. It's also starting to get lighter sooner now. Can't wait for those extended morning commutes...
  7. Maybe I will reveal after the first phase
  8. I've taken an analytical/numbers approach as apposed to gut and past performance. Looked up and recorded the odds of winning each stage for all riders on various media platforms and built a little database which logs most likely scores for each rider over the 21 days. So based on most likely to least likely to win a stage, rider gets allocated points. Structured my picks so that my chosen 8 plus subs results in a maximum combination of points for each of the three phases. This takes into account the favorites on flats, cobbles, hilltops etc. Then just also made sure that the most likely jersey winners are also included. This approach has caused me to leave out some big names I would otherwise definitely have picked, but seeing that that didn't go well last year, I'm sticking to my new BS approach...
  9. Last time I checked Crown Cycles had them in stock.
  10. Hitting the nail on the head. Now, imagine trying to explain to a normal sane person how cycling in the freezing cold and not being able to feel your nether regions is better than sitting in a warm, cozy car with a cup of hot chocolate/coffee...
  11. Last year I got wet on quite a few occasions. Had some memorable commutes. There were times when I was so drenched, I could have filled a glass of water by wringing out my socks, and another glass by wringing out the padding in my bibs. I actually quite enjoyed it. The only difference now is that I changed jobs, and I no longer have the luxury of having a space to dry out my clothes in front of a fan heater. So if I get drenched, I'll be stuck with the wet clothes, hence I need to get proper waterproof kit that will dry quickly.
  12. Thanks, I'll check these out.
  13. Winter is coming. Last year I commuted throughout winter without proper gear. Was fun but this year I want to be more prepared. What rain jacket is recommended? What are you guys using? I've been using a k-way type windbreaker thing but didn't really help with keeping water out, although it kept me quite warm and is super light and quick drying. Waterproof booties, do people use these for commuting? I can't imagine the happiness of riding in a storm with feet that are bone dry...
  14. Straightforward, Marine Drive -> N1. Park at CTICC if you don't mind paying, easy access off the N1, safe and hassle free.
  15. That NW is going to be VERY interesting should it materialize
  16. M5 -> N1 or M3 -> Nelson Mandela Blvd -> Elevated Freeway
  17. It would have also taken the pressure off of the technicians who were trying to resolve the issue, and maybe that would have helped them find and solve the issue sooner. Imagine trying to troubleshoot a technical issue with 100's of people breathing down your neck...
  18. Mine too, someone obviously loaded the paper incorrectly into the printer.
  19. There are no queues, and printing takes 2min. If only I knew how to upload a picture with my phone I'll prove it lol
  20. Currently at expo. No lines whatsoever, took me under 5 minutes to get 2 race numbers printed. Seems everyone took the sms seriously. Also, they've sorted out their issues for now. It's like clockwork
  21. Your core must be made of steel
  22. What about emergency braking? Oh wait, you're not in South Africa, no need to emergency brake...
  23. Lots of glass in the cycle lane this morning (Albert Road stretch). Hope nobody got punctures, especially those on Road Bikes.
  24. Yeah that adjusted winning time was quite harsh, but also expected.
