  1. What would be more environmentally friendly, eating a lamb chop from the farm down the road, or an Avocado that had to be transported from a different continent?
  2. How can you say that everyone should be cutting down on their meet intake. I eat red meat about once a week, I don't need to cut down on anything. What health benefits will be derived from not eating good (halal or kosher) red meat? Are there studies to prove this?
  3. I was watching Survivor a few nights ago, and after winning a challenge the tribe opted for live egg laying chickens over rice. One of the tribe members bonded with one of the chickens and provided comfort to the chciken. It was actually quite strange since the chickens would usually make a run for it whenever anyone got close, but with this tribe member the chicken allowed her to get close and pick it up and comfort it. However when hunger struck, the tribe decided it was time to slaughter it and have a proper meal, and this tribe member was now obviously shattered.
  4. Imagine the entire world population stops eating meat. LOL ???? it is just not viable. Economies will crash and people will die of hunger.
  5. Why do I have to be a follower of Islam? I mention halal because it is more commonly labeled on meat products but there are lots of similarities with kosher as well. Do you know the amount people of other faiths and beliefs who prefer only to consume Halal meat because of it's benefits over unhalal meat? Go do some proper research and stop relying on bogus studies.
  6. I'm going to open up a can of worms here. I specifically want to refer to all prior studies that has been conducted and claiming that eating meat causes disease and illnesses etc. and the Bshit results which shows that meat eaters blood are murky or whatever it was. Did those studies involve participants who only ate Halal meat as opposed to unhalal meat and pork? If you don't know what Halal is, here are some brief pointers: Animal welfare should be respected throughout the course of an animal's lifetime In order to emphasise the sanctity of life, the name of God should be invoked prior to slaughter The method of slaughter must involve a cut to the throat using a single, continuous motion The slaughter of the animal should sever the carotid artery, windpipe and jugular veins The spinal cord must remain intact Knives must not be sharpened in the presence of an animal, nor should animals witness the slaughter of other animals The knife should be razor sharp and free of blemishes Animals should not be slaughtered in a position that is uncomfortable Blood must be entirely drained out prior to the animal being processed further If you are Vegan, please go and research the benefits of Halal meat versus meat that is not halal. All studies concerning meat diets which have not taken the above into account is basically junk.
  7. OK so how do we start getting predatory animals to start becoming vegans too. I mean the way they kill causes their prey to suffer for hours, sometimes days to wait until they die. They are so cruel toward their prey. That's natural right and they way God intended, but veganism is above that, so those animals have to change, seeing that we're assimilating animals to humans now. I wonder if lions will survive on a plant based diet.
  8. Emm, no, I'm not Vegan.
  9. Today is World Vegan Day and November is World Vegan Month. https://www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/world-vegan-day-2019/ While they celebrate that, I'm going to celebrate the RWC by braaing all weekend and at the same time reap all the health benefits of eating meat.
  10. I thought he was left there to keep the pace down until the rest of Savages gets back, you know, like you guys did while descending Botman's I wasn't complaining though as the break from hammering was welcomed....
  11. Definitely a Savage day. C Group was being paced perfectly by the excellence team until Savage came along at 60km mark and took over from there until the end. A massive group formed at this point with constant casualties suffering the consequences of trying to sit on the Savage train. I managed to sit all the way through the cramps until the end, well kinda, since Savage decided to stop at last waterpoint but then caught us right at the line again.
  12. https://pedalpower.org.za/events/pedal-power-association-244/ From looking at those horrible route maps, it looks like only the 160km route goes over Bains and Riebeeck. 110km goes over Riebeeck only.
  13. You are able to collect your race sticker at PPA offices beforehand.
  14. Did you perhaps make an error with the decimal placement there lol I could probably add another 3 500km
  15. I commute with a few guys who don't carry any bag as they are able to keep everything at work.......
  16. Time to open up the unwritten rule book of the Bike Hub Commuters Challenge My understanding is that in order for it to be a commute, the primary reason for the trip needs to be getting from point A to point B in order to carry out a task/duty that you would have otherwise required a car for. eg. Getting to work and back, getting around in order to do whatever job you do in order to make a living, grocery shopping, dropping off kids, running of errands etc. and if you extend any of these trips in order to get in extra miles then training is secondary and can be accepted as bonus commute miles. If the primary reason is training, then I don't see how it can be a commute, because getting there and back forms part of that training. This was discussed before in this thread as well as prior threads so I really thought we all should have been on the same page by now. Let's try to keep the competition healthy as far as possible.
  17. About this being a serious comp, yes But honestly just asking for interest sake since I have made the observation
  18. Commuting to and from a sporting event. Cool, got that...
  19. I will definitely pick up weight working at McD, weak spot. But then again, I would have burn't everything off by the time I got home.
  20. I see someone logging weekend recreational rides as commutes. Can someone please explain the basis of how this works so I can start doing the same.. This is a serious competition after all.
  21. At the rate your'e going it will make no difference whether I update or not. Just about holding on to that podium by a hair. I'll need to come up with a plan soon...
  22. Compared to me who did NOT get first, but moved up 10 places...
  23. Hit 4000 km this week cat-i making up some serious ground. Will knock 3rd and 2nd off podium soooon...
  24. I just jumped up by 130 places into the top 80...
  25. Quite nifty of the 130 to do that. The 520 I just press stop then 'Save Ride' and it's done. It then uploads to G-Connect which is syncd with strava. Strava then syncs with Endo. I don't have to mark my commutes in Strava as commute because Commuter Marker does that for me, however this does not carry through to Endo. In your case it somehow does. So I'm thinking that commuter marker marks the ride in strava as commute after it has already sent the ride to Endo???
