  1. While we are waiting for the CTCT seeding, as an appetizer, the 99er seeding and start times are out on racetec...
  2. This morning while on my commute I confronted an oke on Liesbeeck Parkway just after the N2 intersection heading into town. No lights, jumped the red lights at speed at the major n2 intersection under the bridge, earphones and refused to use cycle lane. Was expecting aggression but instead got an arrogant gesture to carry on and mind my own business lol. Hope I got some sort of message across.
  3. And you will start enjoying commutes much more, rather than allowing other frustrated road users to intentionally try to disrupt your joyful experience.
  4. I enjoy the SE commutes from Town back to the southern subs, its where the most gains are to be had, especially since you're head on into that SE wind non stop. This morning was just perfect. Wish I could have made more of it, but had to come straight in, no time for detours
  5. Heard on radio this morning that officers will be permanently deployed all along cycle route from CBD to TV, and will cater for after hours commuters as well, thereby working in shifts. Anyone have further insight into this and the extent thereof? It's by time we see some proper action taken.
  6. Why even have an option to choose whether you want the discount? Who is going to refuse a discount lol, or is it deliberately like that to catch people off guard.
  7. The mind is a powerful thing, but addiction is too. Quitting is therefore a mental battle. That's all that it is. It's the same as when you're climbing that steep hill and you're engaged in mental battle to endure the pain and push to the summit. All you need is motivation and good influences.
  8. The cyclo sportif race has been postponed, but there is a new WACT ride taking place at the same time and place, to ease the pain of the CTCT disappointment I guess. (WACT - Week After Cycle Tour) Check PPA Website for details.
  9. We are all disappointed yes, but I think expecting some sort of compensation for sunk costs that were already incurred by participants is not going to solve anything. What I expect is that CTCT organisers come up with a weather proof game plan for next year's race. Maybe a bit impossible yes but at least demonstrate the effort to do so. For starters why not have 2 alternative dates, the saturday or the sunday, and make the call a week before the time when the forecast gives a general idea of what the better day will be. Why not also have the option of doing the route in reverse, with strong SE winds, the reverse is easier to deal with as you are sheltered by the mountain for most of the 1st half and then have the wind behind you for most of the 2nd half. Again, this is a call that can be made a few days before when the forecast can be considered as reliable. Then there's the starting point, SURELY they can come up with alternative starting points. The civic area is one of the windiest places on the planet, why persist with this start point? If the official race still has to be cancelled for safety reasons, at least give experienced riders the opportunity to take advantage of the closed roads at their own risk by allowing them to start without their race numbers and without support. A nice touch will be to leave the timing mats in place and still have the times count toward seeding, much like the hill climbs are set up, no support, just timing mats. Obviously this will be at the riders own risk, and it can be on condition that you hand in your race number. Maybe these are all bad ideas, who knows, but it's something better than nothing.
