  1. "Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka desperately tried to make the early break but unfortunately, came up short when 18 riders finally got the gap. It was another frustrating miss for us, with little to show already since the sprint stages last week." Quoted from africasteam.com on stage 17 of the Giro. So according to them they are in fact desperately trying.
  2. What about 1 Tonner 170km? Beta of 2, so all you have to do is finish within reasonable time.
  3. I would love to know which of the following regression techniques they are using since 1.03 is definitely not linear when comparing difficulty to other events: Linear Regression. The most widely known modeling technique. Logistic Regression. Polynomial Regression. Stepwise Regression. Ridge Regression. Lasso Regression. ElasticNet Regression. BullCrap Regression.
  4. That, AND, I think it's also a case of them not being afraid to take their turn at the front. It's ridiculous the amount breaking 3rd 4th and 5th wheelers do because they are afraid to do a turn in the wind. This slows down the general pace of the bunch dramatically and also causes the braking and surging further back in the bunch. Even when you try and encourage the bunch to get a system going, they refuse to even do 10 seconds in front but persist on sitting in front 10 while feathering their brakes out of fear of rolling to the front. It boggles my mind... I'm sure that if at least a third of the bunch is willing to work, the outcome would be different.
  5. PM me your email addy and I'll send you the excel file.
  6. How does this help a layman person?
  7. How much are you willing to pay?
  8. Use excel web connection to pull data from racetec. If you know Power Query you can create functions to navigate the pages on racetec as well as different results across years and consolidate into 1 database.
  9. Will it be hypocritical if I complain about everyone's need to complain about everything?
  10. It looks like I'm the only one hoping for the wind to blow. All that training and commuting in the SE needs to be put to good use.
  11. Not really, coming down chappies and llandudno in raging SE winds, the wind is constantly changing around the corners and bouncing back off the mountain..
  12. So they kept the M3 closed for 9 hours for you. Lol
  13. That windguru forecast is showing in knots, not kmh. The colour Red also suggests that it's knots. So it's just as hectic. Looking forward to it.
  14. My guess is that they will mess around with the beta and adjusted winning times to keep the CTCT group sizes within range. Sneaky stuff...
  15. Is this another way of naming and shaming them....
  16. "REHIDRAT Sport" was the answer to my cramping problems. 1 sachet night before, 1 before the race, and then 2 in each bottle. But I fully agree with the advice given regarding training with appropriate mileage and intensity. You become less dependant on supplementation if you condition your body correctly.
  17. There's no hard and fast rule that converts an index number to a start group. They will determine the cut off index values for each start group based on the field that has entered and then split the indexes into appropriate/desired group sizes. So if last year's field had more riders with higher indexes, the index cut off for each group will be closer, if that makes any sense. An extreme example, if there are 500 riders with indexes below 10, but they want to limit the bunch size to 100, the cuttoff for the first group will probably be 1 or 2. Compared to if the same 500 riders have indexes spread across 0 to 20, the cutoff for the first group will prob be around 3 or 4. So even if your index doesn't change, you can either drop or go up a group.
  18. So 99er results has been used for seeding for this year's Argus... Probably an error hey?
  19. As far as I understand, the whole 2019 2020 thing is a load of C...P. Racetec cannot and will not refuse to use a more recent result to reseed you at the registration of an event where they are present for that very purpose. On what grounds can they possibly deny you a recalculation using a more recent result?
  20. You can use any racetec result to query your seeding at registration. They will give you a better seeding if you can show them a recent event where your index is better than the index they have used to initially calculate your seeding. So if you killed 99er or Sportive, you can use that to prove that you belong in a higher seeded group. I chatted to the racetec guy at 99er reg, he told me this. I don't know how the penalties and premier status works with all of this, but this what the guy at racetec told me.
  21. On Monday morning I was riding in the bike lane down Albert Road into the CBD when I came across a Uber Eats/MR Delivery/Order In guy casually cruising in the bike lane with his run down 125cc wearing flip flops and a helmet that didn't look very secure. He was going at a much slower pace than the general traffic and I was able to catch up to him with ease. I slowly approached him on his left side, and while he was looking to his right, I gave an extremely loud shout through his helmet. . The guy nearly pissed himself and almost lost control of his bike. He then proceeded to get off from the bike lane and just gave me a look. I did feel a tad bit bad afterwards.
  22. I don't trust this option for the simple reason that my mates are always late When it comes to waking up early and being on time, I only trust myself...
  23. This happend at least in the first quarter of the race. He was the main reason for the slow pace in the beginning. I tried to shake things up at about 30ish km by trying to initiate a break but it didn't stick, nobody even bothered, besides for 1 other rider, so decided to come back. When we hit the rollers the pace picked up and I think the group split. This was right after the crash when some dude directly in front of me tried unclipping while going 40kmh. He managed to stay upright with some hectic swerving maneuvers, which I think saved me coz he swerved out of my way, but I heard what sounded like a pile up behind me, someone definitely went down. I didn't bother with the climbers up hells who pulled a ridiculous gap.11 guys broke 3 min clear, how even??? I came 12th.
  24. The poor marshaling is a serious concern. At one point, an oncoming car wanting to turn right, tried to beat the 1B bunch and turned mere meters in front of the bunch. The marshals, who were two teenage girls, didn't even realize what had happened and carried on with their conversation on the side of the road. To the F.....R in 1B who was sitting third wheel and deliberately slowing the bunch down by sticking his arm out and preventing people from passing him, WTF dude???
