  1. Monton can design kit. We got our DC kit made by them last year.
  2. Try contact Chris at Chapmans Peak cycles he hires out bikes =27 021 7907118
  3. The Cycle tour website shows there partners who transport bikes down you drop it off in JHB and pick it up at the expo. You hand it back after the race and pick it up in JHB about R1 000. Cheaper option is the airways, but you need to box it and pack it well as they tend to get damaged if not packed well. You also need to make sure if flying with the airways, how you fit it into your rental car on the other side.
  4. I think the children of the workers picked it up at Bidon Bistro and switched it on while they were playing. It did sync on three occasions to Polar and to Strava thats how I located it to be there. The battery is probably flat now so no more new sync's. I asked the staff this weekend again if they had asked the kids but no one has found it. Discovery are paying out and should have a new one this week.
  5. I dont know how they did it. I was sitting in my office a week later and I got a message on strava that my ride is ready to view. I went to strava and had a look and there the ride or walk was. I looked at the satellite image and it showed me the houses next to the parking lot in Bidon Bistro. I drove out there asked the staff and no one new anything about it. I showed Garth the owner and he told his guys to find it. I also showed his guys the satellite image but no one was forthcoming. I said I will see them on Sunday and give them a reward for it lets hope I get it. When I looked in strava there were three walks that were there so I dont have a clue unless they pushed the sync button.
  6. Found the location via strava trying to get the device back
  7. correct sorry I should have put a bit more info but have located it waiting for someone to accept the reward
  8. Thanks located it via satellite in the parking lot at Bidon the workers had it around there houses offered them a reward as I saw the movement on strava. I still do not have it back hopefully they will give it to me this weekend
  9. Hi, I lost my V650 in the parking lot of Bidon anyone found it?
  10. I swear by Assos Equipe it fits me perfectly and have tried all sorts of bibs. They last three times as long as cheap brands so you will definitely get your moneys worth. Different bibs fit different bodies Assos fit mine. R2500 for a bib sounds expensive but I ride every weekend and watt bike regularly and probably get 2years + out of it so I would say good deal. Cycle Lab has some good deals at the moment if you take two. Find someone else who is looking for a bib and you will get a good deal there. I just bought two pairs of the Equipe at R2 400 per bib. The Mille is even cheaper and just as good.
  11. 100 % correct Longbarn. I am very pedantic with my bike hence the post. If I didnt give a crap I would never have posted this. Thanks for the response anyway.
  12. I understand that but when they damage a R100 000 bike take responsibility for half of the problem and not the whole problem it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I am over it now and will never use them again. Lesson learnt on my part box your bike and dont leave it with them to do.Sad as I have used them on many tours.
  13. I sent my bike down to the Cycle Tour with Elliot Mobility as I have done in the past. Dropped it in the cycle lab parking lot on Sunday before the race. It was raining and a bit of a Que in the underground parking lot. I have an SWORKS tarmac and she is looked after meticulously and cleaned on a bike workshop stand after every ride. So much so that I know every scratch on her. When I gave her in I noticed that about 15 bikes were together on a bike rack. They wheeled her off and gave me a number so I could pick her up in Cape Town. They did not put her into a box in front of me as they usually do. My bad as she is now scratched. I imagine that this is where she was mistreated. I pick her up in Cape Town and the top tube is scratched call over the managers and tell them about the scratch. They are very helpful and said that how can that happen in a box. I tell them boys this was not boxed when I gave it in I simply got my number and she was wheeled off. Nagel and Brad were very helpful and said they would sort it out and deliver to me as I stayed on in Cape Town for a couple of days. Last week Friday Brad calls to say can I pick i her up and I said no problem, it was around the corner and I will fetch her. I asked the repair man if the chip on the paint had been fixed and he said no that was not asked for only the scratch polished out. I contacted Brad and he agreed this could be done. I then thought on Saturday let me go and see what is happening to my bike. I turned her over to look at her and this is what I saw on the bottom tube. I contacted Brad today to tell him and he said he disputes that as there is no way that this could happen in a box. I agree Brad no way it could happen in a box. It was not put in a box straight away Brad. You are sorting the top tube out as you felt you had a responsibility to do this and that this was possible as my bike was not boxed in front of myself. You refused to pay for the scratches on the bottom tube which I think happened from another bikes metal pedal against my bike. I will pay myself but there is principle here. Please guys when you send your bikes anywhere make sure they are boxed in front of you. I will not be using Elliot Mobility again.
  14. Good Morning Adrian, My name is Ivan from Johannesburg. I am 54 years old and more of a roadie with a off road racing background. My technical and downhill skills are good but my climbing is a challenge. I am leaving for Cape Town this Friday for the cycle tour on Sunday. I would have to tweek some arrangements. If Adrian pr speedyspurs cannot make it for some reason please let me know. Regards Ivan. Good Luck with finding the replacement and enjoy.
  15. I ride the cradle and there is plenty space within the yellow lane. I understand we have to come out now and again, as there is either glass in the lane or a pot holes. But there is no need whatsoever for those tri athletes to ride like that., It does give the rest of us a bad name, as well as piss other road users off. But what can we say some people just dont give a ****.
