  1. My wife's merida. Mtb is a women specific avalanche.

    Rugby...

How shocking is the officiating though?!? Crusaders scrumming illegally, lots of off the ball scuffs (Liam Messum's attemted rear naked choke just before bismarck's kick) en then the tip tackle in bulls vs force is a penalty but in sharks vs chiefs, it is red (latter being correct) No wonder stadiums are going empty and fans are going crazy...
  3. Ha, that explains it!! These 2 / 3 abreast riders on Hendrik Potgieter must be triathletes!
  4. I got a suunto t3c quite some time ago and I still love it. It looks as if it's been to the war, but it does not skip a beat! It's not high on features (you meed to get a GPS pod) but I have found it to be all that I need. Recently I have gone the strava / polar Bluetooth strap route for some more sensible info. With that said, I would generally analyse hr data post training. Other than that, I would keep an eye on my watch during indoor sessions.
  5. I have dipped as low as 1.4 bar, but run average 1.7 - 1.8bar. I weigh 78kg and the bike is 10.8kg and all extras (including bottles, spare tube, lights, helmet etc) is another 4kg. Always remember when toying with your pressures and suspension setup, to take your fully kitted weight. And also when comparing numbers to other riders...
  6. AH... This reminds me of my good old days starting up with my crests and rocket rons. I shot the tyre levers all over the lounge, spilled liters of Stans and broke a few levers too. I swore often. It went on for about a week... I eventually got myself some of those green crowbar tyre levers, and tried to use them once. They are too big and really not required. I revisited Google and went back to the thinner levers again. I eventually got a tip that said I should use mister min to seat the tyre. I only had lavender duster plus, and it works like a bomb. The key is patience and technique. Nowadays I can put Rocket Ron's onto the Crests with no issue (with or without a tube). I am running super low pressures and all of a sudden my hardtail MTB is more comfortable than my roadbike. You will be doing yourself a favor to spend the time getting the action right. Your riding will DEFINITELY improve! Good Luck!
  7. I have an old Motorola mb525 that I use for strava. The phone is rooted and rid of all unnecessary apps, including email, Whatsapp and social media. Additionally I run it on edge instead of 3g/edge. The battery seems to last faitly well. Without any usage, it gets more than 4 days on standby and after sunday's amashova (4hrs) I still had more than 40% battery life left. I use a cheap wireless speedo with it and is tempted to see what a Bluetooth hr strap would do. Essentially my advice is this, it must be specific to what you need. Battery life will be an issue if you use your everyday phone - just way too many services running. Get the phone and trim all the excess apps but know that this will not come close to any "std" GPS device in terms of battery life. Then, save up the cash and buy a proper device. I am saving for an ambit right now.
  8. AWESOME!!! Added a couple of Randelas in too... Coming from StandardBank, so it should be there on Monday.
  9. Here is another R100... Will also be waiting for the bank details...
  10. Ja for sure! I am looking at getting a couple in during the early parts of the year on the road bike, and then do the usual winter races on the MTB. But after quite a long hiatus on the road bike, I enjoyed the racing (whilst it lasted and at my measly pace) - need to do that more often! But now, I will help the wife to get to sub 4 on the 94.7.
  11. 12 minutes then in my case... Plus another 11 minutes for a mechanical stop, water stop and p stop.
  12. LOL! The hub censored me! Sorry, my bad. Both the language and the bright idea...
  13. Bar last year's 94.7 where I decided its a good idea to tow **** around... nope. However, I think it was not too bad to start in N - the little bit of a bunch that we had, got blown apart going up what strava calls Inchanga, and soon after that I lost my legs too... Eventually limped home in the wind @ 3:59:21 - I guess not bad for 3 weeks of training after losing weeks to wedding planning and honeymoon. I will be back next year!
  14. I was wondering about some of the guys ahead of me... Started in N with quite a history of racing, just not much roadbike in the last 18 months.
  15. Aha! Rooi Vlam en RooiWillie...
