  1. Thanks, much appreciated. I'm the one withdrawing.
  2. Does anyone know if substitutions have closed? Maybe a stupid question but I'm struggling to find any reference for this year's event on the ctct website.

    Marathon bike

Look no further than the Pyga Stage / Stage Max. Extremely comfortable ride (I changed from an Epic) with no unneccessary proprietary tech/parts (that can only be serviced by the manufacturer). And the crew at Pyga are always available for advice or a chat whenever required.
  4. What's on this year??! ???? For a second I thought you meant the race might happen...
  5. It's okay, I can see you are passionate and respect that. You should be voted onto the committee on the 18th. Been a club member for years and actually have attended the odd AGM in the past. Never been very exciting, but I'm always happy to hear that the trail network is growing and technically accessible to the majority of members which is paramount. Seen this topic being revived on countless occasions here on the hub, but at the end of the day much more seems to be said here than to the club which is proven by the poor attendance level at the AGM by club members, so obviously the vast majority of members don't see any issue here, and also proven by the huge network of fantastic XC trails on offer. We also know that the vast majority don't ride gravity-orientated trails or even notice the colour coding of a trail. Thats why I think this is an interesting thread. Edit: ...or maybe I've missed something (I have read your posts). If so, then I apologise, but the vinyl pic above sums it up...
  6. Wow! Such an interesting thread, Please don't stop. Hahaha! I can't wait for the AGM if all the soap-box mercenaries who posted above actually pitch up. Can I bring my own popcorn? #why so serious
  7. Park all the ambulances in D'Urbanvale! Guaranteed crashes around those circles for the racing snakes????
  8. Yes, he uses 2x, at least he did the previous weekend. I was lucky enough to attend the last World Cup event in Hoogeheide the previous weekend and got a few glimpses of his bikes moving between pits and trailers.
  9. I counted 3 bikes that he used during the race...I think. 2 of them had the Euro Champ colours and a 3rd was grey and red.
  10. I rode the marathon and can say it was a fantastic 2 days on the bike. I highly recommend doing it and I'll be back next year. Perfect balance between single track and gravel roads. There are a few races on the calendar that could learn a lot from the route planning for this event.
  11. Possible route combinations are endless. Playground for proper stage race enthusiast.
  12. Wondering if anyone has details about the race registration. Is there anything planned for tomorrow or only on Saturday morning?
  13. Epic imo. Recommend that you research both, frames in particular.
  14. I work mainly in Holland so I bought a cheapish road bike which I leave in a bike bag at the hotel when I go home. The bike is getting more miles than my bikes in SA! If I end up elsewhere I have a pair of running shoes for treadmill or stationary bike. I've found that treadmill will keep you fit but it's a different fit to cycling ...if you know what I mean. Stationary bikes are best if available.
  15. Agreed regarding condition. Bloemendal is currently in better condition. I guess I was referring more to layout/design - it's just different to the rest of the trails, and more user friendly for proper xcm training. The best stop-in during a long ride to get some flowing trail time.
  16. New tack... In my humble opinion, the best XC trails in the Tygerberg club network are on Meerendal. That is if you are an XCM rider.
  17. Went in there a good few months ago with my son who had saved up to buy a Wahoo elemnt mini. They didn't have any in stock but assured me that the stock would arrive within 2 days and they would let me know. I gave up waiting after 2weeks and now only support my LBS and another well known shop in Malmesbury.
  18. I love e-bikers! Especially when they pass me at speed on trails or jeep track, I shout the question 'fat or lazy?' Gets them every time! So funny????. If you lucky, it will stop and try justify the bike!
