Thanks for this - weren't aware that the insurance company then owns the bike. My understanding was that the insurance covered the loss and not purchase it. Thanks, will inform insurance then.

Thanks to a fellow hubber my bike which was stolen 3 years ago has been discovered on Facebook marketplace. Does anyone have any experience of retrieving a bike in this manner? Or is it not worth it? It's not a super expensive bike. Loved the damn thing, had so much fun on it, and would love to have it back.

So after some work what I use is MySOS where you set the time you expected to finish, if he time runs out without deactivating it it sends an SMS to chosen recipients with your last recoreded GPS location from their servers. This will allow for a good starting point. My Garmin watch also has a "shock detector" which picks up if you come to an abrupt stop/fall and has a countdown timer which will notify your chosen recipients again. Helps with injuries. Those are my safety hacks along with pepper spray.

So I run an organisationcalled pedal project, where it's grass roots that we coach them how to ride a bike and also MTB skills. The programme is more designed around a mental health support programme though MTB. And if the kids are keen to continue we set them up with other academies. So there are of course, Songo in stllenbosch, Bonga and velokhaya (more road and BMX but are looking at MTB) in khayalitsha and that's about it to be honest

Would love to get the communities insight on my allocated seeding for the CTCT. This is my first ever road race, I’ve done many MTB some stage some day only. I’m a keen cyclist over a many a years and over the last 4-5 months been commuting 30kms a day 4days a week on a fixie. I’ve been seeded at 5K, generally speaking what is the skill setbof this bunch? Do i need to try and squeeze in the last seeding? Feedback appreciated.

I would like to see if this rant is still relevant??? Because the lack of cycling lanes leaving the CBD towards Rondebosch is a joke. Zero enforcement from the City, lanes are deteriorated and even parts dangerous. Estimate how many people use that route on a daily basis? From my experience from the last 2 months easily 50 -100 people daily. Guestimate.... Would like to track and use count to show the City how Shity they are.
