T-girl

I have narrowed my search down to Garmin FR60 and Polar Rs300x G1; from what I understand both track speed and distance as the Garmin uses the foot pod and the Polar has a GPS. Local retail for FR60 is R1.7k while Rs300x is available on CRC for around R1.5k. Which should I get?? Is GPS generally more acurate with distnace and speed than a foot pod? I would imagine so...?

Don't want to spend more than R2k! He is not a serious cyclist; does a bit of running a cycling! Garmin are nice but maybe too expense. So I'm thinking Suunto or Polar!?

I'm wanting to buy my brother a HR monitor for Christmas. Any suggestions which is the best to buy?

I know this has been discussed before; just want to know if anyone has purchased an entire bike from CRC recently? Even with VAT and 40% duties a lot of the bikes will still be cheaper than if purchased here! Also wondering about LBSs as surely they will be very upset if I take a bike to them and am like 'uuuh, please assemble this for me' ...

Recieved my CRC order today! Took only 5 days to arrive; ordered on Sunday! Shoes and pedals No duties had to be paid; only VAT! CRC are awesome!!

The scultura with 105 is R17k but they will give it to me for R15.5 they say. Aluminium 904 race lite with 105 is R12.5 k. Also looking at cannondale synapse 5 105;going for R12.5 too,also getting the carbon version priced as it looks really good!also gt series 2 Aluminium... Too many options Am happy for 105 components. Don't want anything higher!

I'm looking at spending R12.5 or so. Can get a carbon merida (scultura) for R15.5 ... Don't really want to spend the extra but am considering it. Just starting road riding; currently a mtbier but want to do some road training. Also keen for some tris and hopefully half iron in 2012. I think I may just stick to alu as the weight diff is minimal and how much more comfortable can it really be?!

I'm referring to a carbon frame! Does all carbon beat aluminium? Even the cheaper carbon?

I know that there are different grades of carbon, what I am wondering is if the 'cheaper' stuff is worth the extra cash? Is it weaker of something? I am buying my first road bike; I want a great bike that will last me well and that I won't want to upgrade soon. But I also don't want to pay the earth! Should I stick to Aluminium or pay the extra R3k or so to get the carbon?

Have just placed an order for CRC and buycycle! Watch this space for updates on charges recieved etc! Hope it arrives! Ordered some shoes for just over R800, even if they charge me an extra 60% they will still be cheaper than if purchased here!! Sweet

Are cadence meters 'built in' to the bike computer or do you buy a seperate part? Am looking at a Blackburn Atom wireless computer and not sure if it comes with the cadence or if I have to buy a compatible part? (am buying online)

So I'm gonna do it then! Pity I don't have more stuff to buy...

Just going to buy pedals and a bike computer as I can spend what I would spend locally but get much better stuff!

So is it worth buying from them or do the admin issues cancel out any saving?
