  1. Yes! What a plan do it do it!!
  2. I was going to buy tyres etc off chain reaction; as they are cheaper (as far as I know). Any thoughts on getting both front and back mountain king? As chain reaction don't have race king! Coffee time. I wish. No coffee machine at work *sob BUT Fego is across the road...hmmmmm...
  3. Yes, go have coffee! Then come back and give me more advice!
  4. But get the tubeless specific tyre for the back??
  5. Watch it FishEagle! I've got guns you can't imagine!!!
  6. Thanks for the input Bos! Am just a bit confused; are you saying I mustn't buy UST tyres? Just convert 'non-tubeless' tyres? Sorry; I get confused easily!
  7. Haven't ever had a puncture (touch wood). and I never really adjust my tyre pressure according to riding conditions. I just feel my tyres and if they feel pretty hard then I'm good to go Mainly want my wheels lighter as the Giant X frame is pretty light and I feel its a waster with my liners-slime-tubes-heavy-rimmed wheels! New rims would be nice. I think I must save a bit more...
  8. Are they good at Good2Go? I have Mavic Xm rims.
  9. uuuuuh...this sounds UBER complicated! Lets bear in mind that my bike-mechanic-skills are pretty poor. Ok very poor! Like; when I (sometimes) clean my bike (properly) and remove the back wheel I battle to get it back on!
  10. These are nice but too expensive! Also going to buy new Avid Elixir brakes off crc soon so don't want the discs...
  11. Rims are Mivic Xm apparently. Standard on my Anthem X3. Do most riding at Holla in Ballito or in the sugar cane; lots of muddy-wet rides lately! I don't want to get tubeless if it won't make my bike lighter; have heard that the conversion kit adds quite a bot of weight. Don't want to spend much more than R2k if possible...But I'm thinking thats not possible, drat
  12. I have Michelin WildRace'R I believe. But they are well worn so will get new ones soon! Have heard conteninental are the way...? Not sure on budget really; just want a good set of lightish wheels! Not wanting to spend a lot though.
  13. I am currently using liners and slime in my mtb tyres. The tyres will soon need replacing so I figure I should make the transition to tubeless. Any advice on what tyres to get? And do I need new 'tubeless' rims? or will I still get a much lighter wheel if I run my current rims with a conversion kit?? My wheels are HEAVY!
  14. You got it FishEagle! When my steed is back I shall lower myself and do a road session on the mtb my tyres need to be replaced soon anyway so may as well wear them down on the tar!!
  15. When I go for circuits along NMR my H R gets to around 92%. But there is no structure in the session as I end up going flat out for as long as I can maintain and then I just fall off the bunch! I guess that proper interval training would mean riding alone? Which I don't mind; I just find that I can push a lot harder when I am chasing someone as compared to when I ride alone. Guess I am just lazy at heart Would be great if you could send me that program, thanks Veloce! I generally can't get my H R past 93% though...so if the interval calls for close to 100% of my max then that ain't happening!
  16. I usually do sit near the back of the pack. I think its cuz I usually allow a small gap to open up (when I'm not sticking RIGHT on the wheel in front) then others go into that gap! Will make more of an effort to wheel suck from the tallest dude I see! I have had a push before; and I always really appreciate it; but I feel like its such a cop-out to be pushed. Dishonest miles! Thanks for the input
  17. I always seem to ride with peeps who are faster; its great actually as it makes me work hard! So that point is ticked Yes; the 'sucking wheel' is a skill I am still learning to master. Just don't feel that comfortable being so close to the wheel in front yet! Road riding, I have discovered, means NO rest/recovery on the ride. Takes some getting used to. Off-road you can always recover on the more technical stuff or in the single-track but on the road its just GO GO GO GO GO GO GO!!! Real leg burning stuff! But oh it is awesome!
  18. I recently started road riding (Dec 2010) I was a mtbier so I guess that has made me stronger on the hills... but I seem to have NO pace on the flats; get dropped off the back of the bunch every time they put the hammer down! Yet on the hills I pass fellow riders. How can I get faster? I ride, on average, twice in the work-day-week; hills once and either speed-work on the circuit or just a general ride. Can I expect to get faster after some more consistent riding? Am tired of losing the pack and trying to chase them down!
  19. Any idea where to see race results? Or where to view pics?? My bike remains dirty... Really wish there was as Xterra Kzn side. SO keen for another 1!!!
  20. That Xterra was awesome! But it broke me. The 2nd run lap was tough!! Loved running by the dam wall tho. The swim was surprisingly good. Calf cramp, like a knife, in the last 20m which was less than ideal also that 2nd buoy took forever FOREVER to get to!! Mtb was just rocks everywhere...insane! I feel I have earned my t-shirt so am happy. Well done Flex! And all others who did it Will def be back next year!!
  21. But... Cafe Pronto is just SO good Especially after a wet, muddy tri!
  22. Btw any thoughts on fuel during the race? On the Sasol I just had a swig of juice and that lasted me...I suspect I shall need more for Xterra. An energy gel or 2 myb? on the mtb??
  23. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
  24. Oh my gosh I just looked at the mtb profile!! I really hope it looks tougher than it is!!!!!
