  1. Lefty ocho is your only option. Lefty 2.0 is no longer supported and there are no spares available anywhere other than lower legs. Ocho is way better anyway. The alloy version weights roughly the same as your PBR. which carbon hard tail do you have? If it’s a Flash carbon with Headshok head tube you will need an adaptor headset as well.
  2. Q-factor isn’t wide enough to clear the chain stays hence I haven’t bothered to try. cant get the chainline aligned either
  3. Tokai is just an example of where even when people know because there are signs up , they still do. I don’t believe that people genuinely don’t know. It just plain phuquwitism with a healthy dose of “who are you to tell ME what to do”. As I said, it’s been on all community chats from Claremont to Smits . Even people in the north know. So people who don’t know chose not to know in order to have a convenient excuse.
  4. Can you raise the closed flag on the tokai Trailforks landing page so it’s abundantly clear please. In this day and age reading is a scarce but critical skill . How so many get by in life without being able to read is beyond me
  5. Bru baseball bats at dawn? that which goes in must come out
  6. Ok I see this wasn’t a Friday post and you are actually serious….. eish!!!! Daai one. these Russian visitors of yours…, they arrive , have a few shots of Pushkin, declare it crap diluted western sell out excuse of an alcoholic beverage. what do they consult to find trails? mostlikely Google which will send them to….? … you guessed it, trail forks wait I googled it for you , see picture below. the next thing they will want to do is get their bikes assembled, but let’s assume that they brought a mini workshop along on the Oligarcs super yacht. They assemble their bikes while supermodel daughters use that icon of western capitalist imperialist projection of wealth superiority, Google , to determine where to access the trail. It takes them to the entry gate kiosk on Tokai Road where , if they’re daylight riders, encounter a ….. you guessed it again,…. A rrrraaaannnnggggeeeerrrrr (rolls eyes) who sadly informs them that the trail is closed. You see, even if you chose to ignore the information provided by the imperialist Google , it is marked as closed on a few platforms (that could perhaps a larger notice on their landing pages rather than small print 3/4 of the way down the page. however sadly your Russian visitors won’t be able to buy a permit and therefore will have to head to the northern suburbs trail network. mid said Russians , behave like other tourists and find a LBS to find out about the nearest and most accessible trails to ride they will also be informed of the fire and trail closures, no capitalist Google required. so perhaps the Russian tourists you are referring too are shy and would prefer to remain strictly anonymous then yes maybe they won’t get to find out about the closure until they get there but I’m sure they will go and grab lunch at the Norval Institute instead ? just speculating here
  7. I’ll expand on the above. Any Aluminium sleeve pressed into an aluminium tube/shell is not intended to be removed. Firstly when you press AL into AL it will gall even with as much grease as can be squeezed between the two. Add salt and there will be oxidation further complicating removal. When you remove , assuming the sleeve will Actually move, further galling with affect tolerances which will make the fit of bearings too lose leading to creaking and premature bearing wear. And then you’ll want the sleeve back in again. so unless you can cryo freeze the sleeve without cooling the bb shell I’d say leave it in or move on from the frame.
  8. You need to be banned at least once and then rise from the ashes
  9. It’s a great option, designed with marathon racing and XCO in mind. Just change the sag setting to switch its suspension anti squat. The regressive AS curve allows this. Scalpel would be the other bike that is similar in philosophy
  10. Besides protecting your noggin is there anything else you want from a helmet? cool colours? Safety specifications? head shape and size? Some helmets fit egg shaped heads, others round etc lights to be mounted? To peak or not to peak ?
  11. Problem with the signage is the baboons will rip it off= wasted resources. lock the gates and they may lose the key made security guards and they may never leave… always we want the draconian measures in place and then complain when it remains
  12. It is a rant. You’re fixating on one communication media and dismissing all others because they don’t suit your narrative = lekker Bikehubs Friday post . the primary means of informing you is face to face when you arrive to sign in AS REQUIRED BY THE Terms and Conditions of entry. Website be damned, if you’re entering the park after 5pm and or without a valid permit then you’re trespassing. The website you care to use as your primary source says so clearly as do the signs at the entrance. The ranger admitting you to the park will tell you “closed”. if you’re not following Tokaimtb, or SANParks or any other Tokai related channels on anymedia Then surely why would you type in www.blahdieblahbkah.com and hope for the best. So few companies update their websites in real time. Tokai manor house certainly doesn’t have the tech or the resources. unacceptable? Maybe but we’re only getting a fully online system to purchase activity permits via the SANParks website and even there is no hourly updates on park’s availability. this is what we face, it’s Africa. We have a drivers license printing machine out of order since January . So we work with what we have. Making it solely the responsibility of SAnparks to keep us out is a pipe dream that when we ultimately get what we ask for will Bring faaaar more restrictions than you would want.
  13. Lekker Friday rant post Bro
  14. If it was an aluminium sleeve then it is going to require lots of penetrating oil, patience, a quotation for a new frame and a willing insurance assessor
  15. I see what you did there........ But then I asked SearchLbs Ai Overview.... Search Labs | AI Overview Learn more The Common Cold is generally more prevalent for athletes, like those participating in the Cape Town Cycle Tour, in the week before the race, compared to the general population. The odds of catching a cold or flu before the race are reported to be six times greater for cyclists. This increased risk is likely due to factors like physical exertion, stress on the immune system, and potentially increased exposure to germs in large gatherings. DND here....: And Hear I thought this was just a K&K excuse used by those who didn't do they turns on the front at 99er but above is definitive proof <scribbles "find common cold week before Argust" into TP>
  16. The trail closure has been communicated via other media as well included radio and residential Crime Watch Alerts and Deep South Alerts No guarantee that everyone will be reached. With rangers, SANBI and other officialdom in and out of the park its not feasible to string up red tape. I dropped by the rangers hut last weekend and they said its closed. So if anyone is stopping at the hut to sign into the park they will be told its closed. SANPARK acknowledge they could have guards at the entrance but their rangers are engaged in accessing damage and rescuing injured animals. We do need to self police here. No worries Conrad, take a big man to own a mistake, kudos bru✔️👌
  17. So I asked an Ai Bot.......: Search Labs | AI Overview Learn more Determining the "easiest" MTB race is subjective and depends on individual fitness and experience. However, some races in South Africa are known for their more accessible routes or shorter distances, making them suitable for beginners or those looking for a less challenging experience. Consider these options: Tshipise MTB Challenge: This race caters to all levels, from serious cyclists to weekend warriors, and includes various race formats for different skill levels. The Munga MTB: This race is open to anyone who can ride a bicycle and offers a variety of race distances, including shorter options for those looking for a more accessible challenge. Sabie Xperience: While known for its adventurous routes, the Sabie Xperience also offers a range of self-guided mountain bike trails, making it suitable for both competitive and casual riders. Die Bosveld Trailseeker Series: This series offers a range of terrains suited for all skill and fitness levels, including easy jeep tracks and more challenging single tracks. "Lite" Enduro Options: Some Enduro races, like those in the Western Cape, offer a "Lite" option with shorter courses and less technical trails for riders who are new to the format. Factors to consider when choosing a "easiest" race: Distance and Elevation: Shorter distances and flatter terrain will generally be less demanding than longer, more mountainous routes. Trail Complexity: Races with well-maintained trails and fewer technical features will be easier than those with rugged terrain and challenging sections. Race Format: Some races offer different race formats, such as shorter distances or relay options, which can make them more accessible for beginners. Personal Fitness Level: Consider your own fitness level and experience when choosing a race that is appropriate for your abilities. Recommendation: For a relatively easy MTB race, the Tshipise MTB Challenge or the Die Bosveld Trailseeker Series could be good options, as they cater to a range of skill levels and offer varying challenges. Alternatively, the "Lite" options in some Enduro races can be a good way to get started with mountain bike racing without being overwhelmed.
  18. now that is a million dollar question...
  19. I believe the only nerve string being plucked is yours 😂. the hardest race in South Africa is the Argust. failure to achieve published targets results in 52 weeks of humiliation and excuses you have to live by. Nothing causes more ulcers than missing that target time by seconds or minutes. Excuse generators built chatgtp on the back of Argust failures. no one cares about freedom challenge and only a few more CEO’s have heard of the absa cape epic, but the benchmark of your cycling palmares is …the Argust. even Pogacar said he will ride it one day or his palmares would not be complete
  20. But is ChatGPT amaboepensi!? if not it must go sit in the corner
