  1. A short afternoon ride on the Waterfall estate trail, looking like that Jhb afternoon thunderstorm is coming, but not quite

Definitely a sting and a slight wake up call. Had nearly 7 litres whilst riding and could have done with more.

Not able to make this weekend's 8hr, but I recall seeing a Ventana, if that was you at the 6 hour (I was on a Yeti single speed). Not many Ventana's around, nice bike! I managed to kill my rear tyre 30 odd kms in and then restarted right at the back. A 3cm sidewall cut on a normal dirt road - Conti is off my list (It was a Crossking Protection 2.2) It sounds like you need new reading material : there's another (very thorough) blog - Rob Walker's https://www.justkeeppedalling.com/tag/munga2018?order=asc
  5. Sho, not nice. Thaba has a wide open, very visible parking terrain and my car was closest to the security booth. My guess is the rack was taken by someone dressed as a cyclist, so no one thought anything of it because it was just a cyclist packing up after a ride.
  6. -- Not a bike, therefore not posted under stolen bike section -- Item stolen: Thule Euroclassic G6 3 bike rack Date: 12 May Location: Thaba trails parking terrain Bike rack was locked on vehicle towbar parked at Thaba trails when stolen: parked at 7:30, cycled at Thaba, returned to vehicle at 11:30 and found bike rack removed. There was no damage to car but locking the rack made no difference. Security did not see anything.
  7. Measure the distance between the unit and the sensors - the manuals indicate what it should be. I have a Rox 9 and mine only worked once I placed the computer on the same side of the handlebar as the sensors.
  8. Fine, just keep pedaling, we'll wait for you at the top of the mountains :-)
  9. I bought an ASR5 carbon about two months ago. Have not had any failure to report, but just did SabieX with it. No trouble from it except that you need to be fit - it wants to go fast up the hills! Awesome bike and Morningside's service is very good
  10. He is a columnist for an online mag - www.thedailymaverick.co.za. It used to be a print mag, went under and now they are back online. Always controversial columns
  11. I run the same combo, but 2.4 Mountain King at the front. I don't have grips issues with the front being a 2.4, but have read it before about them in reviews. There are completely new mountain kings out overseas now that is supposed to resolve that. http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/continental/bicycle/themes/mtb/cross_country/MountainKingII/MountainKing_en.html There is also a new X king being an allrounder http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/continental/bicycle/themes/mtb/cc_marathon/XKing/XKing_en.html
  12. There is an online shop for endura - www.gumbo.co.za Have not tried them before but they stock bikes and kit.
  13. I rode the 2010 ex9 at ride before you buy - it almost seemed you needed an easier gear to maintain speeds compared to other bikes. Awesome bike, but I must admit that the Commencal Super 4 carbon that I also rode there was lighter and faster, for the same price. My point: try and ride before you buy - I see there is a ride before you buy event at the crater cruise in October
  14. Well done Juan! But of course, your service is awesome so this no surprise ! Albert
