Nice route with a mixture of everything and yes I was also a bit pissed that the route was shorter then advertised as we needed this 'long one' for our Sani2C training - I had only 66km on my Garmin. I reckon they must change the name from Route 42 to Route 66 for next years race.

Got to give Cajees Boksburg and Dragon Sports credit for their prompt service in replacing my Giant Anthem X1 29er frame so quickly. Frame snapped at Groenkloof on Tuesday and I picked up my bike up today (with new frame) at no cost. Relieved as now I can do the Route 42 race on Sunday.

Hi Pierre - we are training for Sani2C so we are doing quite long rides i.e. 3 hours on Saturdays, 4 to 5 hours on Sundays and 1.5 to 2 hours early morning weekday rides (Tues, Wed and Thurs). So if you are up for a 30 to 40km ride in the week let me know.

We had a great ride yesterday (90km) from Benoni almost to Rietvlei Nature Reserve - check out my blog post on http://rattylion.blogspot.com/ for the stats of the ride etc. We are training for Sani2C so I am sure we will be doing a few more of these, please send me your name and cell number if you are keen to join...

MTB about 90% on the dirt, mainly jeep and district roads

Hey I have fallen off a few bridges, so a buoy line would come in handy (especially as I am doing my first Sani2C in May and there are some mean arse floating bridges there). yeah me too ride my rode bike twice a year for road races - makes big difference at least 5km/h, 2 different sports choose your weapon accordingly...

Last year it was advertised as 80km and ended up being just over 70km

I got one last month (was on my birthday wish list) and have not looked back, really comfortable and fits well, worth every cent (my good wife) paid for it...

I take the Realthing tablets every morning, awesome stuff haven't been sick once in the last year (while wife and 4 kids have been down with flu a few times).

I must have gone past at 05:30, the rider was down the bankment outside Atlas aircraft, when I came back down Atlas an ambulance and a few cars had already pulled up...

Saw there was a rider down off Atlas road this morning, I didn't stop as there was a crowd of cyclists there already. Any idea what happened?

It is 80% off road - normally head out towards Pomona, Senrengeti etc. Let me know if we will see you on Sun (weather permitting)?
