There are definitely smoke and mirrors at play here. You see, the Sowetans are calling for that its unfair and that they want to be treated the same as other communities. What they are not saying is that they want to be treated the same as other communities that don't pay. It has happened numerous times, protests because of the threat of disconnection because of non-payment. In every case the protestors got their way. There are many townships that pay nothing, and the Sowetans are only doing what has worked in the past to get it free.

Yes he would not even have been there. So now there will be an increasing number of "brats" ebikers on the trails, all weighing a lot more than a mtb+rider. This trail is already over-used and ripped to shreds. There are also hikers on these trails and ebikes encourages and enables unfit noobs onto the trails at speeds that is much higher than an mtb. This is only the start.
Yes I would have been able to, easily. It was still a semi technical st to the bottom with no pedaling required. I probably would have been able to catch him on the climb as well.
As I was climbing up my favourite trail on a Sunday afternoon yesterday a fat snot nose brat came down the trail on his e-bike and said to me in the most annoying nasal brat voice: "Enjoy that hill" and he sped away down the trail. I almost went after him to modify his e-bike and or face.
Hahah yeah I want one! But don`t want to ride mtb trails with it, that is just wrong. This is the point I`m making, eBikes should not be allowed on mtb trails at all. How will they monitor what eBikes have what power if trails are limited by power? The viable solution is to not allow eBikes at all - just ride a normal mtb, its great fun!
Its like they dont even pedal, the eBike is so powerful that pedaling is not needed at all. The pedals are there only to make the bike ok to ride mtb trails.
