Lets take Giba for example, they used to do a race, but they made no money from it, they own the trails and have to pay no one as everything is there already. So not sure, if that was for real then, I would stop working today and go do it with my wife.

What did you expect? You attacked the race organisers first off, and other people are telling you things but you say different - Thats coming from people that have studied what you have or similar stories. Like a lot of folks mentioned, maybe try make the changes yourself, email the various organisers and try make a plan, who knows something may come of it.

As I said before, two of my best mates did architecture at Varsity, both had part-time work, so much so they even paid for trips overseas while they were studying, and all the toys they needed. Another friend you is just finishing her degree in Architecture has also been studying part-time- If they can do it so can you.

I will shortly be in the same boat, although Im not 50. Should it apply to part-time students as well.

What about discounts if you ride a 29er? They need to recoup their costs when they realise its not all that.

So this is what I see happening, more & more people suddenly paying "student rates" and then the fees for the non-students go up to compensate for the loss, also a greater no of entries cause of the reduced rate - cuts your chances of getting into a race possibly - Just seeing things from both sides of the fence.

I understand it not being rocket science, but anyone can very easily get a student card. Therein lies an issue, how do you police that, next minute everyone is a "student" again.

What a load of bollocks, what are you studying that you can't get a part time job? Some of my best mates that have studied as Architects and Mech Engineers at Varsity all had part-time jobs. Both probably being the two degrees that suck up all your free time.

Its a valid point, but how would it work? Where would the discount come in, what can be used to confirm that you are actually a student. Offer up solutions to the problem

Only ever bought one thing from Gumtree, and I got the most awesome deal. You can find some great things, you generally just need to keep your wits about you and be vigilant of anything that seems to good to be true.

There is a new bike shop opening this weekend in Westville, at the Westville Mall, I know they are doing some fantastic opening deals, so rather wait - Im meeting the owners tomorrow so can see what deals they are doing, otherwise get yourself down there.
