  1. When I bought mine about 8 months ago Sportsmans Wharehouse had the best price.
  2. Formula R1 all the way,but I would buy XT before XTR!
  3. I have a carbon Giant Anthem with XX Group Set Formula brakes,100mm World Cup Shock and a set of ZTR Flows with Chris King Hubs etc etc. Very well specd bike and I absoloutly love it as my race bike! Ideal for stage racing. I have just about two months ago bought the Giant Trance 650b for 20K(The one with the SLX Groupset) I have upgraded the wheels and brakes which have made a huge difference but the SLX groupset has really surprised me.On the singletrack with the 140mm travel wheel size and geometry of the trance it is flippen amazing! Did the sugar rush at Hola Trails on this bike,a fast 40 km race with plenty single track and it had me smiling from ear to ear. Point I am making is Giant 650b good value for money and good for single track and hill training! Horses for courses. Am doing Karkloof on my 650b and SANI2C on my 29er. If your plan is fun with XC riding Giant 650b all the way!
  4. I have one set of mens XL for Medium if anybody interested-Race Phone Brett 083 44 44 386
  5. TITS and make every training session count!!!
  6. Those things you have mentioned ie 2 x 10 and 36/42 are variables for which there are choices. So are you planning to move from a 9 speed to a 10 speed or a 3 chainring to a 2 chainring set up or even an 1 x 11 chainring. If you are going with a 2 x10 then the 36 will be the number of teeth on the smaller chainring and the 42 will be number of teeth on the bigger chainring. I could go on and on but these decisions are based on what type of riding you are going to be doing and what type of rider you are. If you are really concerned about these issues rather go and see a LBS than buy online so that you get a full understanding of what you are buying and what your needs are.
  7. Phone CWC and tell them you are looking at building onto a Scott Spark 950 and they will supply accordingly.
  8. Is this his budget or is he ignorant to what bikes cost ,this is the question? I know when I first started i though 5k was hellish expensive for a bike. Now 5k for a set of wheels or brakes is acceptable to me. All I am saying is IF he can afford it get a bike with decent components and in decent condition.6 to 7k will get you that.
  9. Francois,a word of advice, for 2 to 3k you are going to get a piece of scrap and it is going to make your riding experience a forgettable one! I say minimum you need to spend between 6 and 7k then you have something that you can ride which will not fall apart! It is like saying I've got 10k to buy a car,you might get a fourth hand Tata with no wheels for that price......
  10. There is only one hub and that is Chris King.
  11. Bought my tri suit online from 2XU -all the wetsuits and prices are there. Delivered to my door in 3 days! My wetsuit I bought from Terry from XTERRA in Cape Town. Great service also delivered to my door in 3 days-check website for contact details. Both good options
  12. Hi Izak, Also did the same BMI Test and at 1.79m tall and 93 kg's I was considered to be clinically obese! They say my ideal weight should be 80kg's Now I have been down to 85kg's and I was skraal! A mate of mine who is 1.85m tall and 87kg's was also considered to be overweight. Having a look at that picture you look in pretty good shape and who gives a flying f what Discovery thinks. Their rewards programme has gone for a ball of shite but that is another thread all on its own!
